When a field is de-attacked and enemy troops are moving towards the map room, etc... in RL, a pilot could take his gun and walk around said base and shoot at the enemy.
We shouldn't have to up an aeroplane (assuming hangars are even up), bail out, and float down in a chute. We should be able to leave the tower and walk towards the enemy in a last ditch attempt to stop a base take..... or we can get several buds to leave the tower together and attack all the enemy troopers trying to enter our map room.

I like the idea of the OP though. Up as a chute :)

tell you what, bail out when you spawn, then walk to the nearest town. time how long it takes then come? compare that against bringing a plane from nearest base then we'll see.

but you weren't asking about those were you? because then it's hell no. would be hard to capture base with never ending supply of players running around.

It's a good concept, but I see it leading to other changes I really wouldn't liek seeing I think. IE: Next would be making control towers destroyable, or making you killable as you hang out inside or around the tower. The whines about spilled coffee, perforated cups and stained uniforms will be endless.

+100 to let pilots leave the tower, as long as I get a kill credit for each one of them I murderize when I roll a Jeep up to the tower and let the Browning 50 cal work on the guys running through the door.

Its not a bad idea, but I think the attackers should have some way to stop the flow of guys running around. Maybe link this ability to the barracks. If the attackers kill all the barracks at the base, then no more upping as grounded pilots. This would have the side effect of putting the brakes on a rolling horde, since after taking the base they would then have to resupply it to get troops back.

Slightly modified but...
I would just be happy when in the tower to be able to step out on that deck thingy to see what is going on. Actually worse on a CV. In real life those towers and the CV structure allowed for you to walk out and see 360 degrees. That should be adjusted in game.

You know what might be fun? Two squads of 10 guys each all bail from their aircraft on opposite sides of a town that all of the ack guns are down at. Then it's shootout time!

Still the whole idea of the game is to use one of the supplied vehicles to fend off attacks from enemy vehicles. Not saying bailing to defend the map room is cheating, but it sure is cheap, and we certainly dont need an easier way to do it. :headscratch:

I'm changing my mind, it's a stupid idea really.
We'd get mass hordes of pilots running to the maproom, and we'd really have no way to spot them if they were hiding under a tree etc. It would only make taking a base frustrating to the nth degree.

Could be a lot of fun with us all running around panicking trying to get to the map room. Instead of being forced to sit in the tower while watching enemy troopers go into our map room and nothing we can do.

I saw a guy bail out and ride the chute all the way down and start walking back toward base so I landed between him and the base, bailed, and killed him with the pistol as he navigated through the trees.
