Title: <S> V-17 Jolly Rogers and the 35th FG NightStalkers
Post by: WxMan on March 17, 2012, 08:42:41 AM
For an outstanding escort effort last night. You allowed the AK's and the Air Raiders to reach our target, and then get most of us back home. Your tactical discipline made our success possible.

Thank you.

:salute back. The discipline of the bomber group was appreciated, in turn. Well done.

Seems VF-17 has a new favorite plane (though our F4U will always be our baby). We'll take every opportunity to fly the P-47 in a Euro frame. Maybe we need a split personality identity - though I think all the 8th AF FGs/FSs are taken.  :)

Thanks WxMan,

I'm proud of my boys (I think I can say that since I'm being promoted to XO),  I think our new force structure is paying off.  We put the bombers first last night, a lot of us giving up kills to do so, but the payoff is a great mission for everybody.  The bombers staying nice and tight with good communication made our job much easier :aok.

Thanks WxMan,the 35th were first in to the target. We were outnumbered, as we are a small squad to begin with. We encountered several 109's and 190's just outside their Dar ring at co-alt or higher. The fight was on, we had no option really but to let them chase us down, and many did. From looking at the logs it appears that the AK's and AR,s did make it to the target and got home, and that VF-17 was able to provide close support to you guys. Of the 5 of us (35th) only Seadog36 was able to egress back to friendly territory, unfortunately he had to ditch about 1 mile west of the field. Its my hope that we were able to clear some space for you guys, and that even if it saved one set of buffs, was worth (point wise) the loss of our squad.

Side Note:
A big <S> to EagleCH, who I had a White Knuckle fight with. It started out at 27K+ with him on my 6 till about 10K,where I was able to reverse him, from there down to the deck, ending in a 100MPH stall fight at 25 feet. Alas my Jug skills at that speed and alt. are what got me in the end. (along with the overmodeled trees LOL).
Was a blast guys,
Big <S> from

<SALUTE> WxMan and company, beauty is a discription I'd use for not only last night but these last three frames!!! Your crews did an excellent job keeping close formation, that is all an escort wishes for along with you guys not shooting us down by accident and you did both. The way the axis fighters went after your escort rather than your bombers caused them to loose their primary goal and us all but a man, like Carver said it was absolutely worth the trade off point wise and gave you and yours the edge you had to have at that critical moment on target. 25 nme ac went straight to us and I only saw 2 110's get thru to the bombers before all hell broke loose around us and thanks to the boys of VF-17 making sure none went any further, I <S> them for their fine work. We enjoyed flying with all to do with that big beautiful formation last night, only wish we could have made it a round trip with ya's. <ALL>
ps . . I too have to salute EagleCH <S> this murderous animal, according to the logs, was credited for single handedly wiped us out less a single squadie but we know he had a lot of help. Good job Seadog36 for suviving and every on in my squad for clearing 6's to the last man. 2 minutes isn't alot of time unless your 1 of 5 against 25, we took from them what they took from us and some but we achived our goal, they didn't :neener:...

I still want to know who the group of 190s was that harrassed the buffs for almost 2 sectors west of the target after egress.  They stayed as a group making high speed passes at the buffs, never being in ours or the bombers guns for more than a few seconds.
