Title: OK, This one was weird...
Post by: amulford on March 17, 2012, 11:37:52 AM
I was flying in the MA for a couple of hours in the assigned FSO ride to get used to it.  When it was time to head over to SEA1, i kept losing my connection to the server.  It would let me back into the MA, but I would get booted when I would try to go into SEA1 every time I tried.  This morning I tried to log into SEA1 and I got right in.

I have no idea WTH was going on.  Any ideas?

Did you try a fresh boot when it was happening?
Also was it letting you into any other arena after you tried SEA1?

Yes, I could go to any other arena, just not SEA1.

Now today I lost connection entering the MA.  I tried again and i got in, but with the message that I am not receiving updates and switch to TCP.  WTH???

If you see the message "Losing UDP, switching to TCP", the game is doing the best it can to tell you there is severe packet loss happening on your Internet connection.  Many things can cause that.

Best to run PingPlotter to 206.16.60.39, for a couple of minutes, to see where the packet loss is happening.  If there is no packet loss, then your router may need to be power cycled.  If you are on a wireless connection, you may be seeing a higher than normal bit error rate in the data stream causing the problem.
