Title: So how does the Storch and new sighting system affect gameplay?

I searched but could not find a clear answer.  Seems that you need to up in "attack" mode if you want to better see GVs?  And having a Storch near you also helps?

Thanks for any clarification.

It doesn't matter which way you score the Stork, it performs the same.  While in the Stork, you can see moving gv's 2700 yards away and if they are parked you can see them 1200 yards away.  While in any other aircraft you can only see a moving gv at 1200 yards and a parked gv at 600 yards.  The Stork's ability to mark targets and resupply via the air is quite handy, but if there are enemy fighters in the area it is as good as dead if it decides to loiter.

The Stork is not so much the game changer as is the "all other" aircraft's reduction in their ability to see gv icons.  The other coding changes helped in making their day more difficult (no icon if hidden in buildings, under trees, etc).  Considering that now that lumbering A20 needs to work a bit more to find its target (gv icon), and the keep sight of the position of where that icon was seeing as how the A20 is likely going to extend beyond the icon range before it turns back in for the bomb run, yeah it is over all more difficult for the masses to dive bomb gv's.

I'll be anxious to see the results after a few months.

I think the distances given are very slightly off from memory, but its described perfectly, and I see them used frequently, around GV bases near a spawn specifically.  Great addition imho

Having attack aircraft have to get close before they automatically see you balances it out nicely.   It gives the Ostis and Wirbs a fighting chance to defend vs air attack.

Being as that the last time I played AH was before bomber formations (yes, yes, it's been awhile), I don't have any pre-2.27 experience to draw from...

I do know this, however... newb or not... it's FUN fighting GVs... something I can't say about any other WW2 simulator I have played online...

Teamwork ends up winning the day...  and it makes flying the I-16 a blast (my favorite plane for whatever reason)... so, thumbs up from this newb fwiw.

I tend to divebomb a lot more flaks than tanks now.  It is definitely harder though since you have to get low to see them, then climb before you dive and keep track of their position the whole time.

as a dedicated GVer, I gotta say it seems I'm still getting found and whacked just as before

Be sure to park under trees as often as possible.  If you can hide your icon it helps.  Plus, if you are out in the open your icon is seen at only 600 yards and closer.  Also, many players can pick out gv's before we get in to icon range.  We just look for the black dot that doesnt belong.  Hide yourself and stay still and be quiet. 

I have noticed LESS kills from bombing and IL-2's.  As a dive bomber, it takes me onger to find enemy tanks and get the proper line up, but ultimately I get the job done.
