Here is a of photo of my new panel. It is laid out for total bomber control without having to use the keyboard. All the buttons are labeled for simplicity. Some buttons are double assigned and labeled for GV control (mode 2) as well. All gun positions are laid out in the red buttons in the actual location the guns are placed in the aircraft (this is a b17 or b24 version) starting from the top as the nose or chin gun and work down to the tail gun. The engines are blue and can be controlled independantly. All necessary bombing commands are mapped (bombsight, calibration mode, and set speed) to buttons and labeled. It took me about 20 minutes to map the buttons after I labeled them. It uses 2 usb ports.
This simplifies the game for us keyboard challenged types.

What boards are you using for these boxes? Where can I get them? I think I want to try tinkering :)

Get a piece of Laser Decal Paper, like from http://www.decalpaper.com/category-s/3.htm (http://www.decalpaper.com/category-s/3.htm) or a lend a Dymo Label Writer (http://sites.dymo.com/Pages/home.aspx?locale=enUS) and buy a suitable tape for it according your needs.

I use boards from used joysticks.
Bizman and pfactordave thanks for the input.

Nice job. Instead of decals you can also print black on white on one sheet until you get the layout correct then print white on black ( uses a lot of ink ) and have it laminated, then make holes for the buttons.

This is a good idea. It would allow you to have different laminated overlays for different situations. Maybe one for Bomber use and one for GV use for example.
