We need a fast plane for WW1 that people can survive in, I have noticed once I duff people up a few times they log :rofl the same goes for any of the other regular guys in there, after a few deaths people leave, it must be disheartening for someone starting off to have absolutely no option but die.
Was thinking SE5a easy to fly and fast, strong in a dive structurally and can depart when it gets into trouble. And a good 20mph faster than the dreaded dr1

I do not cosign.

+1 for ANY ww1 addition!

I do understand this would lead to much running away if a SE5a was introduced, but I would rather have the numbers, from a country perspective the Germans did not have a really fast easy to fly plane like the SE5a or Spad. I do believe the WW1 planes take a lot more skill to fly than the WW2 planeset, it would be disheartening then if a new or casual vistor jumps in the arena and is instantly raped every sortie by an uber vet, its not like WW2 were you can run away some of the fights can last as long as 3 secs, so 5 minutes of flying to get murdered in 3 seconds you can see why some log after a few sorties.

need french planes :bhead the latest Spad should be fast enough for your needs.
-
Would like to have SPADs & Newports.

Nieuport you mean ^^ You could have American skin on these, as to my understanding most American fighter were Nieuports

Yeah but SE5a has a forgiving reputation in handling + is fast.

Well said. I agree.

What's a reasonable firing range in WWI? 400 yds? 400 yds / 20 mph differential speed = 41 seconds of being plugged. That's why I gave up on WWI; you can't get a usable speed advantage. Altitude is useless; if you dive you rip your wings off or, if you don't, the high drag kills any excess speed almost instantly. Once you engage you are committed to a turn fight and the DrI wins.

I believe this is the shared opinion between you and the OP. The OP is proposing that a superior-speed "runstang" type AC be intorduced to the WWI arenas to allow less experienced players the ability to disengage (or engage) with the dreaded DrI as they see fit.

Have ya considered not upping in the dominant airframe so these "newbies" have a better chance ?
Or maybe after a couple of fights when you know you are much better have ya thought about maybe taking it easy on the guy to encourage him to return ?

This! While I'd like to see any plane included I dont think there is a fast enough WW1 plane to do as Pervert would like. Pretty hard to outrun bullets. I think having more things to do is the answer, wether it's zepplins, obs.ballons and/or trenches to straif might make people stay around longer.

When you can see the whites of their eyes.

Your completely wrong here actually, the other planes will rip their wings off or limit their speed for a start, the SE5a was well known for its ability to dive at high speed and not have the wings come off.
I dunno what your id was or when the last time you were in the WW1 arena but there was a fix to the DR1's flight model a while back, even at that when the DR1 was uber it still comes down to a pilot vs pilot I still killed the DR1 more often than I died when it had the uber flight model and even more so since the fix flying a camel.

Yes and I have for a long time flown the F1 camel, what others do is out of my hands.

The dr1 doesn't always win, not by a long shot. I play in there most of the time I am on aces high and there are some really good pilots in there that fly the D7 and the F1 and they can usually press their advantages to win the fight. It takes a lot of time to learn because they fly very different then the WWII plane set but if you spend a lot of time in one airplane in there and learn how it flies you can do very good. I have become tired of the MA lately and have spent most of my time in the WW1 arena and there is a great bunch of guys in there and it can be a lot of fun.
