The actor portraying the know-it-all sounds familiar. Van Heflin, maybe? The relatively bald headed guy playing the manager type is also a well known actor, later.

Thanks for the history lesson. Lee J. Cobb I figured, he reminded me of the jury trial with Henry Fonda in it and Bonanza. Arthur Kennedy completely threw me. Man, he sure knows the lingo; wonder how long he studied for that part? Yep, you are correct.

At the beginning when the Mustang makes the low pass and the guy comments on it's speed. It looked like a P-40 to me. Look inboard on the wings, what looks like the P40s wheel covers there.

Yes. Arthur Kennedy.
I would say the whole training film was a Hollywood production with a bit of Disney's cartoon animation. This was typical of the military training films during WWII when a lot of Hollywood was overseen by the military. The information is out there, just research it. I guess us older guys recognize the actors of the era. That is the youngest I ever saw Lee J. Cobb in a role.

Wow that a trip and they made it look so real , like the pilot new the lingo well like Buckaroo said . It's still a good film but that bird don't look like a pony .

Its possible thats the video that Hap Arnolds staff made of the first Merlin powered Mustang (British evaluation mockup). Hap wasnt happy when he found out we were not building Mustangs for ourselves.

You know: Ben, Hoss, Adam, Little Joe and a lot of guest actors for a lot of years.
They run reruns on some channel for you younger squirts.
I'm so dated I am musty.

Arthur Kennedy made a ton of B-Westerns and TV shows in the 40s 50 and 60s as did Lee J. Cobb. Cobb was in a long running Lawyer show on TV I can't recall the name of. As for the P-51 it was in service with Central American countries into the late 1980s for a reason. A family friend owned a 51-D he used in air shows in the late 50s into the mid 60s and as a kid I got to stand behind him in the cockpit while he taxied it from one end of the runway to a hangar at the other end. I will always remember how I could feel the engine vibrating in my chest while we taxied along. What a great plane the P-51 was and still is. Thanks for posting the film.

So I'm over 50 and a young squirt, how old are you 1000? Back in those days just about any up and coming actor would have a spot in shows like that. I thought you meant a starring role which he wasn't.

Fuze,you're only as old as you act!!!! I think he could have stated it better the Fonda film was 12 angry men! And Kennedy also had bit roles on Bonanza. BTW I'm almost positive the narator is Van Heflin.

Guess I qualify as a really young squirt then. 12 Angry Men is a great movie. Again I thought he meant a more promionent role. My apologies.
When I stay up to 4am and watch '12 O'Clock High' I see alot of that, many young actors in bit parts, way too many to mention.

No malice or ill intent towards anybody. I figured I'd get some flak calling anybody a squirt.
There were various different periods of time when I was a kid my family did not have TV, so some of those series I missed.
I sure wish we had the TV programming of the 1950's and 1960's again.
