Lyric1 recently pointed me to this Soviet Warplanes Forum thread (http://sovietwarplanes.com/board/index.php?topic=1073.0) showing an I-16 in an unusual colour scheme. This aircraft was painted in the pre-war scheme consisting of two types of gloss grey paint. The paint used on the plywood and fabric areas was glossier than the paint used on the metal areas and was often described as silver. The photos in the thread show the aircraft on an overrun Soviet airfield in the early stages of Operation Barbarossa. It has had its upper surfaces hurriedly brush painted in AII green paint. This may have been the personal aircraft of the CO of 33 IAP. The winged symbol on the tail is the logo of the VVS.
I wanted to skin this this aircraft partly because it shows off the new spec and bump mapping quite well. The grey paint on the fabric outer wings is glossier compared to that on the metal centre section. Also the glossier grey shines through gaps in the duller green paint. The bump mapping shows up the fabric stitching, rivets and plywood areas as well.

Simply amazing Greebo!
I'll try to send you those Brewster references one day. :cry I have some unexpected uncertainties about the colors.

Here you go with Bratushko himself.

General consensus it is red 30 not yellow though.

It's a nice clear photo so I'll consider skinning it, but the scheme is pretty similar to an I-16 I've already done.

Wow in on this update. :O

It is odd HTC included this one as it was submitted much later than all the other skins that I had accepted. My guess is that they wanted to check to make sure there was no problems with uploading skins that included a bump and spec map.

I've already littered the landscape a few times in it. :bhead But I crashed in style! :D

Certainly a popular skin in early war. :aok

Totally unrelated, but that picture you posted referred to him as 'Bratushki' not 'Bratushko'.
