I love living in the country. Peace and quiet, low crime, lots of privacy. The down side is dealing with Mother Nature's little critters... like skunks. I cleared one out from under the house last week and sent him to skunk heaven, then sealed up the opening. Now I've got another one under the house in a new hole. I set my live trap with a can of 9 Lives to catch the current squatter and lined the house foundation with cayenne pepper in hopes of deterring any further inhabitants. Never had a problem with this in 40 years of living here.

I was city boy thrown in the woods.

My cousins just shoot them in the head with a 22 to save cost.

Skunks are removed by finding a black cat and painting a white stripe down the middle of the cat from head to tail. Place cat nip 100 yards away. Let nature take its course.

Put mothballs under your house the skunks will stay away. They don't like the smell.

My cat got his prettythang kicked by a skunk... twice. The skunk thought so little of my cat as a threat that it didn't even spray him. Just nipped off a big patch of fur off his nose the first time, and notched his ear and bit him on the butt the second time. Good thing we didn't have a big rabies problem at that time, since my cat was a terrible fighter but would usually at least try to stand up to whatever critter wandered into our yard... at least the first time. After those first encounters, repeat visits were hearlded by the cat hopping up onto a ledge near our kitchen and yelling "hey you damn kids get off my lawn" until either the critter left or someone inside the house went out to throw a tennis ball at the visitor.

When ya catch that bad boy, skin him out and make me a hat! I have a social event to attend. :x

That's about the only thing I haven't tried yet. If the cayenne doesn't work, it's next on the list.

Put a Mongoose under the house, that will discourage the Skunk. :D

My dogs keep most skunks at bay. Every so often one comes into the yard looking for dog food. lol
Every so often a bobcat pays a visit. Cows or horses in the yard from the surrounding pastures.

Thanks for this song rolling through my brain now. :furious
Got a guy on an offroad forum I belong to called "skunkwhisperer". He may be able to give you some tips. Not sure you can sign as a guest though.

I'll be more willing to wish you luck once this song is gone from my head.
