Title: Question on perks?
Post by: lyric1 on April 05, 2012, 11:05:01 PM
A V-base was flashing for a long while deep behind my sides lines no dar bar no red dot no possible way for a GV to drive to this base. I have seen this a bit over the years so I started recording from the tower then logged out to view tape sure enough some one has ditched inside the V-base radar ring just to make the base flash.

So I up a plane & head to his location & shoot him.

I land & not that I am concerned for perks but I have noticed that when you shoot some one who has landed in your radar there is no perks for this.

Question is has it always been this way? Or something of the last few years? Or is it a bug?

somebody had already damaged him before enough to where you couldnt cause anymore damage to get points awarded.  It happens every now and then, you will shoot an airplane and blow it up and get not even an assist.  I think it's a bug as I hear it often but nobody really bothers to post it.

Nah.. it's because once a plane is critically damaged (missing a wing, on fire, etc) then nobody past that point gets credit for any hits.  This was added in a few versions ago to help prevent kill stealing.

Basically since his plane was already missing wings you were never credited with causing any damage to him and therefore not given any perkies (even though you blowed him up!)

No not quite.

No body had damaged this guy but him self when crash landing.

That aside after reading your post again I can see your point though now.  :aok

is it possible he bailed before he was destroyed?

i.e you got hits (or just a hit) , he bailed, you are awarded a kill but you did not destroy the ac for a perk

No he had been parked there for hours I doubt he pulled the pin just as I showed up.

I have nailed a few guys in similar circumstances in the past they had all ditched & had damage from the landing.

I still think there's a bug somewhere as I have shot down several airplanes that had not even a scratch that I could see and got nothing.  it doesnt happen often.  but it does.

Had this happen today a ditched P-38G inside the radar ring. Located him on film viewer & upped a plane & shot him. He had damage that I could see on one of his vertical stabilizers & he had crash landed. This time I did get perks though?

This happens quite a bit if you fly a 109k or 262, many times I hit a plane with a single tater and get no kill/assist or perks for it, usually the damage is to much and someone hit them first, depending how much damage is done.

a 30mm is usually overkill, but if someone dings the plane first even with a few 50 cals, they get a kill for it.

If someone has ditched in a radar ring & is contributing nothing towards game play but making a base flash endlessly for their own amusement.

With out any hesitation. :aok

Your point is valid in regards to those circumstances. They don't quite apply to what I am talking about though.

In all of these instances they are at bases a long way from any fight they have just ditched inside the radar ring typically. The base has been flashing anywhere up to more than an hour after I have logged on & who knows how long prior to that. So if I get the perks & that has only happened in this instance, with the P-38-G & I would have to assume he took damage some place hence the lack of a stabilizer may be from auto ack or some one who has since logged off because I was awarded the kill.

In the other instances I find it hard to believe that some one had damaged the plane & was still on the same sortie & then I show up hours later to finish them off & no perks & yet I am awarded the kill.

no more than the guy crashing inside the dar ring and leave it make the base flash for hours while he goes to watch pron.

Because that plane was still technically flyable as it had both wings intact, one intact vertical stabilizer, one intact horizontal stabilizer and was not on fire.  Therefore your did get credit for your hits and therefore was awarded the perks for the kill.
