Title: Good-Bye Nath-BDP
Post by: Animal on April 05, 2001, 07:00:00 PM
In one of the most hilarious situations Ive ever seen on Aces High, my good korean googogogogogoggo friend NathBDP was banned for life by HiTech.
He was pestering HT, accusing the CV's to resemble IMPERIAL STAR DESTROYERS, HT couldnt take anymore so he ejected him. 10 minutes later NathBDP came back online saying some of the funniest things, and understandably offensive to HT:

Nath: I was kicked from the game. I think a hacker booted me
HiTech: No Nath, it was me.
Some guy: <S> Animal, you are the best pilot ive ever encountered
Nath: I think a hacker booted me, this game is rampant with hackers!
HiTech: Thats it Nath you are gone forever
Creamo: I am not wearing any pants

The funny thing is, this all happened as I was strafing a chute by A1, making it one of the more memorable experiences in AH.

Sorry to see you go Nath, you were too young to leave us, but such is life, I guess you looked for it, but at least you left with style, unlike that dork TOWD.

-Animal

The ironic thing is, one day they boot TOWD who used to accuse nath of being a hax0rite, and the next they boot the accusee, for accusing HT of being a l33t hax0r.

------------------
Nothing feels sweeter than facing a skilled enemy 1 on 1, the battle is tough, but you emerge victorious. As he types <S>!!! on channel 1, you open fire on his chute.

I was online and saw it. Once again, an bellybutton brought this kind of thing down upon himself.

HT was doing open Q&A and NathBDP pulled his usual in your face 'this is crap your serving us' routine.  He kept pushing HT, slamming HTC's efforts to HT directly and just being an overall disruptive jack-ass to HT. HiTech asked him cooly and professionally to stop several times but NathBDP kept forcing HT to re-draw the line untill there was no room left. I was loggin when he was either muted or booted. That guy has got a problem. Not HT, not Pyro. And it shows even more so when in how NathBDP acted when he came back.

Animal, if this was *truly* a friend of yours you should have gone to private and told him to shut up.

I sometimes wish that positive, game improving suggestions would get half as much attention as the negative as of late.

There's a slightly different side to this but it's not worth going over here. I don't think either's course of action was right.

I was talking with Nath at the time and I whole-heartedly agree about the first punt. And yes Westy I told him to shut up.

HT for future reference, maybe code the punt/mute timer for a non-specified time? IE initiator defined (a gag instead of "time out" if you will). 10min isn't long enough in most applications of this sort.

I was online when Nath was muted/booted/neutered the first time.  <evil grin mode on> I like to think I was partly the trigger too <evil grin mode off>.

Nath was whining on and on about the CV ack.  I was on the rook cv near 28 defending it against pt boats.  I had just killed 3 pts (including SUPERFLY) and I saw some enemy fighters dogfighting friendlies at about 7k range.  I started lobbing 5" AA shells into them and am rewarded with "You have shot down NathBDP".  I sit quietly and wait for the whining...

I am rewarded 30 seconds later on ch 1 with "This map sucks, cv sucks" and on and on.  I replied that it was an aimed shot from a 5" not cv auto ack and then SUPERFLY comes on ch 1 and says "Nath is taking a short break".  I thought it was funny that Nath would start whining when it was an AIMED shot from a human controlled gun that brought him down, not fleet auto guns.

I logged shortly after as the cv was sunk and I had to go to work.  Pity I didn't see act 2.

All I would like to add is: Nath was persistently annoying everyone with his opinion on ch 1.  If he kept at it then I am not surprised he broke HiTech's patience.

When I first read the oringal post I busted a gut.  Then I realized that Animal was serious.  It seems that HTC is getting pretty hard core with the policing of the board and the game.  I wonder how far it's going to go.  And yes it's their game and board.  I just wish there were some guidelines, for morons like me, as to what is unacceptable behaviour in the game, and on the board.

If this is true I may have to re-subscribe sooner than I had originally anticipated.

I prefer to sim with adult WW2 and aviation enthusiasts and just generally decent and honorable people.  AH was turning into a childs playground largely inhabited with prepubescent gangster wannabes and disgruntled middle aged alcoholics.

Jesus that sounds rough and it probably is a little bit embellished with some genuine  disappointment on my part but thats about how Ive been seeing AH progress for the last several months and especially the past few weeks.

I hope things level off and mature quickly here in the near future.

Just *my* take on things.

Post by: Toad on April 05, 2001, 08:21:00 PM
I don't like to see anyone "banned".

However, there does come a time when some behaviors are simply beyond ANY reasonable limit and far more than you can expect the proprietor of a business to simply "take" and keep on "taking".

Finally, HTC's last raw nerve had enough, I guess.

I "had it" a while ago. First, I automated a 10 player "squelch list". Finally I just decided to squelch CH1; it was easier than updating the list.

Perhaps now that we're all aware that there are limits, we can get back to playing the game instead of listening to that drivel. Maybe CH1 will "clean up" a bit.

You want to know what the limits are? LOL!

You ALREADY know what the limits are. Your parents, your teachers and your society have taught you the limits. You KNOW this is true.

Why would you think you can continually badger the owners and say things here that would get you tossed out of any business anywhere?

Yet some folks, for whatever reason ... ego, personality, deviltry, "obnoxiousness" ...., will continually push far beyond the limit.

The standard just common POLITENESS. If you need a definition of that, I feel sorry for you.

If you can't be "commonly polite" I hope you wake up before you end up as the star in a thread like this one.

Still wondering what's acceptable?

Try one of these two "limits":

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Or my favorite  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

"I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them."

Who'll be next? I'd guess some d*mn fool that is also devoid of common decency and politeness that fails to see that HTC (and a large part of the player community) has finally had enough of this infantile behavior.

It's not about losing one subscriber, it's about 1 subscriber's conduct causing the loss of new subscribers.

I can't comment on this particular issue because I'm not active enough in the community to do so, but I'll tell you this;

It's not always about money. It's about dignity. If your willing to be abused just because someone is sticking $30 in your pocket - your a potato.

Have to jump in...

Was on-line when Nath was running his mouth, as he has done innumerable amounts of time.  Didn't know towd at all but this Nath guy was just taunting and 'daring' HiTech to ban him, til he finally got what he wanted.

And its all pretty pathetic on Nath's part.  What was a good Q & A session between HiTech and customers became the Nath-is-an-ass show.  To those of us with even the greatest sense of humor, his behavior was way over the top.

As far as I am concerned, HiTech has shown vastly more patience than I would have had.  Once Nath was punted out, the noise level dropped immensely.  Its really too bad to ban any paying customers but when the disagreement turns personal and ignorant, off the plank you go.

Sorry, the guy had it coming, if you were there, you read the whole saga.  He pushed and shoved to get banned, and his wish has been granted.  And havng the guy gone has already improved my on-line experience    (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Its nice to know HTC isnt going to tolerate these childish users any longer, and while I am sure it'll be controversial, I think it will be all for the better.

I think it's more a 'cleaning house' kind of deal.

HTC has been very leinent with abusive customers and at this point, they are hurting the image of the company. So it's time to crack down on those who haven't learned to hold their tongues.

Example:

I encountered a P38, Yak, F4U, and 190 today alone while defending a base in my 109F4. All were higher then me. I merged with the F4U who had dived to me and split-s'ed back into him. We met again at the 2nd merge and I HOed him. Didn't look like he took any damage, and I disengaged from the fight because of my obvious poor position.

The pilot then commenced to call me a 'skillless face-shooting dweeb' on channel 1 for 5 minutes, even as I sat and smiley-faced him with jokes about why I did it. If my sense of humor or restraint was any different, it would have been another flame war on chan 1. (and HT was in attendence, answering questions at the time too) You can bet someone would have been muted.

Seems like everyone can be abusive when they're hiding behind a screen.

Gave me a smile when he crashed 10 minutes later and I got the kill.

(Sorry Midnight for this morning btw. I was in a crummy mood and so I HOed your P51 with my first CHog sortie in a month and a half, then shot your chute for Dingers contest. *That* was a dweeb thing to do, no doubt about it)

HT muted me once, I popped a "HTs using a hack FE again!" on CH #1 when he racked up some kills... I was kidding of course.

However coming back I went PRIVATE and said 'sorry just kidding', and HT explained his point of view (a very valid point too)... and everything was sweeeeet.

HTC are not a bunch of Nazi's, they give us a lot of room to be amazinhunks-online, most of the time we use it, every now and then we find an amazinhunk just to big to fit in the arena  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

My only fear in all this is the new guys will fail to realize that both guys banned in the last day have a history of this type of behavior. I don't think it is fair to characterize this situation as "the first time you screw up you're going to get banned for life". Both people are intelligent enough to know what they were doing and old enough to be responsible for their actions.

I won't even hazard a guess why these actions are happening now, or second-guess the motivation; all I know is it is happening, and it ought to serve as a clear message to all that, as Toad has said, it is time to follow the rules of social behavior we supposedly were all taught in school, at home, and in church. Those simple rules shouldn't have to be spelled out explicitly, because if we are old enough to hold a credit card we should be old enough to be a productive member of society. With that comes the assumption that we can operate in any environment of our peers and at least function in a socially acceptable manner. To do otherwise is to face rebuke or worse.

Vulcan, that's pretty much what happened today. I was really PO'd about it earlier as I Nath and I had been talking for quite a while before hand and he wasn't in the best of moods anyway (or was I).

I've seen HT reasoning for it though, and while I don't agree that a indefinate ban was the propper course of action, I understand the motive behind it.

I'm just curious as to whether anyone knows about the whole persona thing anymore. Some people play the arrogent ones, and like it or not, his erm, ability validated it to an extent. And Nath really was just playin with HT after the inital punt, but I can see how it didn't look that way.

"Blue mode"
Jigster, is realy very simple ,if im in white im a normal player to be played with,
I joke around, banter with people for fun, once in blue I am no longer a player , my persona switchs,I do my best to fill the players needs not mine.
If some one tries to push the bounds they leave me no choice but to deal with it.

"white mode"
With the excpetion of heater of course he is always a putz.
But in reality all I would have to say to heater is "not now" and you would not see him  say a word until the work mode ended.

From a strictly business perspective, it would have been vastly more logical to ban NATH for a day or two, rather than get rid of him completely--that way no money is to be lost.

Therefore, I must assume one of two things.  1)  HT is on a power trip (this is unlikely) or 2) HT is getting fed up with a lot of people's childish behavior and decided cleaning up AH is more important than the money he is losing.

I think 2 is most likely.  Quite frankly guys, this place has been starting to look like a zoo.  What a good time for "spring cleaning"   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

For a business (expecially a small one like HTC with limited funds to begin with), willingly reducing your income is an EXTREMELY drastic action.  Maybe this community needs to do a better job of policing itself.

Ahh, the lynch mob rides again.

A great pilot gets kicked. A spirit who could not be tamed.

Now everyone who ever had a dispute with Nath will find how baaaad he was for the comunity. How we all were suffering from his messages on Ch1, right ? How he was ruining the game for 200 people online ? Good choice, HTC, you say. Like a good servant.

You who agree with the ban ! What are your real motives ? I doubt that they are for the benefit of the game – your motives are as low as they can be. He most likely hurt your ego. Unable to beat him in the air, you now enjoy this gravedance. Disgusting.

Cowardly reaction. No wonder such methods are successful, they find good soil in you, people. HTC’s decision is their right – they protect their business. I don’t question if the decision is right or not. The real crap here is your reaction, so called community.

I had my history of dispute with Nath. We were openly arguing on this very board. Even a full year later, while flying for same squad, I could feel slight traces of antagonism between us. Wow, that’s the spirit. Commitment. While it is not easy to have such spirit in own squad, I would never let him go away. We need such rebels, they have the winning spirit. Something you cowards surely lack.

Now he gets banned. What, do I have to rejoice like some sleezy asskissers here that go along with the power ? At least keep your dignity, schadefrauen.

If I was in Nath’s shoes, I’d never look back at this community.

The least you can do now is to stop slamming someone who can’t talk back. Disgusting.

This damned schadefrau is getting to me.

GROW UP people. You're behaving worse than nath ever has.

"hhihihihi he is banned now he won't shoot me down again".

face it. nath is one helluva puilot and his comments after downing many of you have put a bad taste in your mouth. Fair enough, i can certainly understand that (he has done that to ME as well, and left me infuriated)

But this damned joy and glee over this, this is even below gloating on ch1. It's as bad as what nath did.

Get yourself together. Remain objective. Some people I respected have lost some of that respect.

I won't laugh when you crash your car. perhaps I should but i recognize schadenfrau as a rather low form of enjoyment, that brings forth bad parts of the human animal.

"You who agree with the ban ! What are your real motives ? I doubt that they are for the benefit of the game – your motives are as low as they can be. He most likely hurt your ego. Unable to beat him in the air, you now enjoy this gravedance. Disgusting."

I had history with both, and avoided both. Neither impacted my online gameplay directly after that point, at least not often. I have been here since a year ago November and think I know their history quite well. This is not happy news, but it may have been necessary.

Forget taking sides. It is troubling to me that our race tends to glorify people of talent to the point we will ignore actions that would land the rest of us in prison. We look at all the trouble our sports celebrities get into, our politicians, our actors- if we as "common" people did half the things they do we would wind up locked away. Still we allow them to walk away incident after incident and ignore the obvious- they are living as an example for all of us, good or bad. With such high-profile personalities scoffing at authority it becomes more normal behavior for the rest of us. The community suffers.

Forget about who's a good stick, or called sixes, or is a nice guy to a few people. Ask yourself fairly that if this was your business, your money, your livelihood at stake would you tolerate someone challenging you on a regular basis? Some will lump me in with the "ass-kissers" for this, and now don't like me. But suppose in my scenario above you are the owner and I am the person getting in your face. Still think you could put up with me day-in and day-out?

I made several posts last fall about how I felt the community was falling apart. Several others saw this as well. It got to the point I left for a while because I could not stand it anymore (coupled with a new job and schedule). I came back mainly because my brother flies and I missed being involved in it with him. Still, I think we can all agree that things have gotten much worse since last fall, and I think most would probably agree something should be done. What that something is is not up to me, but I do support any move that will improve the nature of the community.

Nath is funniest guy I met in AH and he really saved my day few times with his jokings and with his skills in fighters.

In AH there's lots more ppl who should be banned because how they act or talk; where should I send the screenshots?

Very soon the competition between flight-sims will be very hard and AH needs every paying customer it can have.
Actions like these are giving AH a bad reputation because as far as I can see HT was having other ways to deal with this situation than ban one of the most skilled person in game.

Yes, Westy, I had you in mind, but I did not mention any names.

You slam Nath who is not here to talk back. That's cowardly. Your asskissing instinct took over, I guess.

And while you probably are the synonym for HTC cheerleader, I have no problem with that.
We may or may not agree with HT's decision how to defend his own business.

What disgusts me is your calling Nath an bellybutton when he is not here, and I am annoyed with your cowardly gravedancing perversion.

Cant say that I ever flew with or against Nath.  He may have been one hell of a sim pilot, but that doesnt make him a nice guy.  Just from reading some of his posts and his comments on channel 1, I would say that he was pretty darn arrogant.  Not that there is anything wrong with that...guess it was those damn leather pants that the luftwaffles have to wear when flying those inferior planes with their superior skills.   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)  The way I see it from hearing the accounts is that he crossed a line with HT and has to pay the consequences.

Oh well, at least now all the luftweenies will have something to squeak about for the next few days and we wont have to read any of their hispano C-hog whines.

Staga-

Would you be arguing so ardently on behalf of someone less skilled? Not a flame, but this seems to be a common defense for the ejected.

To me skill is not the issue at all...

Well it's good to be the king I guess...
And glad to see the supply of cheerleader oufits are still available for the gravedancers...

Funny thing about "community", its tough not to be one of the sheep..

Never met the boy, but most likely fought with/against him once or twice...

OK, a breakthrough, I guess. Same to you.

Now go back to your regular asskissing schedule.

Sorry to see Nath banned. Although he was a "hardcore whiner", but sure was excellent pilot.
Last time he shot me down he immediatly laughed at me at ch1, well that wasn't so funny, but I upped again and shot his prettythang off the sky and stayed tuned what's coming, about 0.21 seconds later "Nath-BDP: WTF !?!?!"  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
I don't know how many hands he has, as he's always typing when flying. That makes he even better pilot ! LOL !
<S> anyway...

Glunz??   I just checked to see how much you fly in AH and Surprise! You don't fly in AH payed areas. Which is what I suspected.

Who are you? What is your purpose here? You're only a board identity and I think you may be NathBID in "shades"

If it sounds off like an ass, writes like an bellybutton and it posts to look like an ass.  It's all very simple to figure who and what you are.

There sure is something wrong in this community and it isn't Nath.

If I am indeed a community dispruptor then I should expect that. If it happens I certainly won't get all falsely indignant, recite the Magna Carte' and protest to the United Nations that my damned human rights are being repressed by the commie-dictator like bastidges at HTC
Nor will I use a false name and get bent out of shape and stomp my feet like a three year old having a temper tantrum.

Treat people the way you want to be treated.

Prepare for the consequences of your actions.

Personal responsibility.

Last time I waxed nath he blamed me for it, said I was a "real great pilot, not" then said he was "squelching me" and "bye".

I thought to myself "WTF is wrong with that kid"

Thing is, I sorta liked nath but in the final analysis he got what he wanted...I guess,  because there is simply no other explanation.

To you guys that call nath a friend and seem bewildered that his bellybutton got canned I suggest you are partly to blame.  You should have told the kid to grow up and act like a man.  If you
did, and he didnt, who else is there to blame?

Westy, your asskissing position gives you NO right to question me anything, but I will answer anyway.

I am former Hristo.

I don't pay to play AH right now. I would like to, but I simply can't afford it.

AH subscription is 1/10 of my monthly income (country standard). We also have to pay hourly fee of 1-1.5$ per hour of Internet in my country. 100 hours of AH per month is roughly half of my salary. Still, I used to play 100 hours per month when I had no other priorities in life.

I will be back one day. Then I promise, Westy, I will beat you in the arena and gloat over it. And dance on your grave.

Hey Hristo <S> !
Sure would be nice to see you online again.

"I will be back one day. Then I promise, Westy, I will beat you in the arena and gloat over it. And dance on your grave."

Now was that really necessary ?
Doesn't sound the Hristo, I've known...

I think this topic is going way off.
Perhaps someone should dig the keys to lock this threat-thread.

Westy, your asskissing position gives you NO right to question me anything, but I will answer anyway.

I'll ask you anything I damn well please. This is an open forumn and if you post you're essentially asking for feedback by anyone who reads what you write.

Funny. I had you pegged as Hristo back when you first posted in Nov or Dec.  You, RAM and a few other 'waffles' seem to have this need, this serious identity crisis problem, to be called diferent names.

Change your id all you want. Your behavior makes you stick out like a sore thumb.

YOU and several others with your anti-social problem and anti-authority almost belligerant attitudes towards HTC are what give this community and AH a bat rap. Not folks who LIKE it here and want to see it improve.
Which in a very odd way you see as being an asskisser?

HT was in the arena last night, asking the players how to improve the community. He made it clear that "community" is the concern in these cases.

Skill at manipulating pixels on a computer screen isn't the issue here, nor is the "six call" or "clearing of endangered sixes".

Those are "red herrings" meant to sidetrack the discussion.

Community is the issue.

Improving the atmosphere in the MA is really what we should be discussing, and that's what HT was doing last night.

(Milo, you are absolutely "right on.")

What you are calling an identity crisis is just inability to reactivate the account under same handle.

As for AH enthusiasm, let's see if there is anyone else who was spending half of monthly income to play this game. Probably Fariz or players from former Soviet Union.

I don't have problem with HTC and AH. Their game, their decision. I had problems with P51s back in beta, I don't particularly like C-Hogs etc. But I played he game and that speaks for itself. I had trouble fighting Torque too. And the Hangtime episodes - I sometimes enjoy those memories and run those old films. For every thing I don't like in AH there are at least two things that I like.

But I would damn sure protest if I see something that annoys me, and you, Westy, annoy me. Go pick on someone who can defend himself (I have a feelign I am the one now - another breakthrough).

Why I don't play now has nothing to do with the game or community. I would play if I could afford it.

But I don't people like you. Spineless pieces of toejam who go ways when they kick someone already on the floor. Cowards.
