The Yavapai College Athletics Department, along with the Arizona Community College Athletics Association, suspended baseball player Austin O’Such for the remainder of the season after an on-field incident occurred during a game against Scottsdale Community College March 29 in Prescott. O’Such blindsided a Scottsdale player standing near second base, running in from left field as other players were being separated in the infield. Yavapai College issued the following news release: “Yavapai College and the Athletic Department aspire to the ideals of good sportsmanship and fair play. In no way do we condone the behavior as recorded in the video, which occurred on March 29, 2012, at the Yavapai versus Scottsdale Community College baseball game. “The YC player involved was immediately suspended by the college and will be suspended from play for the remainder of the season. The college has implemented this action and will continue to work with the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) on current and future sanctions following conference procedures. “Per conference rules, team members from both teams involved in the on-field incident have already served their suspensions.”

I couldn't believe that the first time I saw it.  I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch over the scuffle, but that hit is one of the lamest things I've seen in a while.  The guy should consider himself lucky he's not being charged with assault.

If I was the kid that got hit, or his parent, I'd lawyer up.  Both the perp and his school would be paying up.  No excuse at all for that hit and a 1-year suspension is way too lenient.  Getting kicked out of the school altogether and banned from NCAA play completely is about right.

He's probably trying out for the saints.

Real low life scum. Banned for the rest of the season is not enough.

Community colleges are never part of NCAA. Thank god too, other wise I wouldn't  be able to do fantasy leagues even with no money being bet, since I do discus for my CC. I sometimes feel bad about every minute law my little brother has to deal with since he plays football for Oregon State.

They are in the NJCAA and to further Eagl's post, he should never be allowed to play in the NCAA if the toolbox decides to "transfer".
