Title: Game needs update every time it starts

Ive been having a problem during log-in of the game wanting to install the latest patch every time i start the game , it seems to be stuck on patch 4 and never remembers the updated patch 6...any ideas anyone ? I'm running XP SP3 , everything works fine after I update until next start up.

Prop I have been going through this also, I dont know why it isnt saving the latest version but it is irritating as using a porcupine as toilet tissue.

You could download the latest full version. Just save the settings folder and any other folder you want to keep for the re-install.

I use Avast anti-virus, and after updating the engine a couple of weeks ago, I noticed
when I went to run an "exe" (it was a wargame) it gave me a popup window advising
me that it was running it in a "sandbox" (isolated area on the pc) in order to protect
my PC.
  My guess is that your AV software decided the update .exe for AH was a potential
threat and disallowed it from making any changes to your HD.

Try this.

Remove the desktop ICON.  Download the full installation and install it and let it set a new desktop ICON.

DO NOT remove your existing installation.  Simply allow the game to install over the top of it.  That way you do not lose any of your settings.

I tried doing that bit I still keep getting the message your version is not up to date....I will send a dxdiag as soon as I can

That is not going to help me.  Something it wrong with your configuration.

What version is showing in the upper left corner of the startup screen AFTER you install the full version of the game. making sure you remove the desktop ICON BEFORE you install the full version of the game?

Dohhhhhhh I found where I messed up, I transferred my rig to another room and somehow the date and time got messed up and as soon as I fixed that I had no problems. Something simple as that can make a difference.

OK Skuzzy...It took me awhile to get around to the reinstall as you suggested and I must say that all worked well, I reinstalled over the original game and it installed without changing my settings ..all is good  (of course I backed-up the original folder just in case something happened :aok)
