Luckily most of tornado alley is rural, so very few tornados actually hit cities.

You missed all the ones in my state, as well as the city I live in.

I've been living in tornado alley for 33 years and been within 10 miles of a tornado that hit more than farmland twice.

I didn't miss anything. Those were just off the top of my head. I'm sure we could come up with quite a list from your state.

Back to the OP. With what that's transpired so far the season May/June are looking to be quite bad. Maybe things will settle down but I see no indications of that being the case. Hopefully the wedges will hit open fields miles from people.

I'm fortunate the tornado that landed in Lakeland, FL didn't go through any sub divisions - it went right past my apartment complex and towards the airfield during the Sun N Fun.

Lucky only a few minor aircrafts were damage/destroyed, but no serious injuries - problem with Florida is we are used to hurricanes, we can evac pretty quick - tornadoes just popup out of no where, but this is no way close to what kind of tornadoes form in the Midwest.

We have little squeakers for tornadoes, Midwest has the real deal, Hurricanes though - I hate em.

Moore OK May 1999...............I went down to that one for work (insurance adjuster) 2 days after it hit.  I saw things that i still dont believe. And doubt ill ever be able to wrap my head around.
Was down for the Philadelphia Miss. one last year..........Company was kind and let me stay out of the Joplin MS one..........After seeing the ones from April 2011, i had had my fill.

One thing i will say, is that being down in the southern states helping out on those storms, Ive learned that folks in those areas are among some of the best people that walk this planet.........they made me feel, and treated me like I had been a long time resident (Im from PA) I got Xmas cards from them this year at Xmas time................"Good people, and hearty stock" as my granddad use to say. :aok

I think your right, from what ive seen in my company, they are forcasting a really bad year, and setting $$$ reserves accordingly.

Moore OK May 1999....
The afternoon on the day after we a "dust storm" for lack of a better term. Not really one but it was a massive cloud of red dirt sucked up by the tornados covered everything here just south of the Red River. Very surreal event.

That's cool you still get Christmas cards. Sounds like you really did a good job helping those folks.  :salute

Someone tell Shuffles this thread is about tornados....not Toronados  :P

But now that he brought the subject up, mine was like this one, except mine was red. Chick magnet!  :rock

Thanks, I always promised i wouldnt be one of those adjusters that treats his clients like every penny is comming out of my personal checking account. That and I work for a great company.
Some photos i took while down there (Philadelphia MS and Huntsville AL) ......really puts it into perspective.

This was a bustling development of homes

I saw this and my first thought was of the 3 little pigs nursery rhyme.....Hay, straw or Bricks.....it didnt matter , the wolf held all the cards

What an EF 5 can do to a home..........foundation was even sucked up.

Down the street...this area was "grazed" by an EF 5 that passed about 5ooyrds to the north, note the sill plates for the framing, they are (were) bolted to the foundation, they were sucked away

Im looking for some of my Moore photos, ill see if i can locate them. I have one shot of a house that is completely gone, I mean the foundation and everything, but a doghouse that was 10ft off the back of the same house is untouched, i mean not missing even a shingle on the roof....crazy stuff!!

The next round (god hope there isnt one) Ill be sent out......ok in my book though  :aok

wow thats crazy god bless all that were around for all of that.  What I find fubar is that if japan or some other country has an earthquake the us has donate to this or that, then this happens here and they say "thats what fema is for".  just saying natural disasters happen everywhere and people sometimes forget that this goes on here in the us, not just haiti or japan

That was a nasty storm.  I wasn't far from Parkersburg when it hit and it was a nasty one.  It pretty much wiped Parkersburg off the map.
Really Small Town + Biggest size tornado = No Town.

The Power of Mother Nature is jaw dropping at times and to see what can potentially happen to our homes, is always in the back of my mind.    We had a Tornado up here in Michigan back in Early March, but you guys in the Alley dodge this stuff year in, year out.   I could never wrap my head around myself EVER seeing an EF5.

I heard about the outbreak of Tornados this past weekend and said a little prayer for those affected.
