I wonder just how much of the wing tip actually departed.

Seems a lot of ww2 birds are going down or suffering some kind of damage lately... or is just me?

Well Lancasters took a lot more damage than slightly detached wingtip and still flew 3 hours backs to base during the war. I wouldn't worry overmuch.

:O Glad they made it down, would have been terrible if something that small would have brought a bird down

Yipe... closer to 3-4' imho, but worse still seems the handling must of been wild since it didn't fully detach...  where's the wishlist forum!

From the picture I saw, I'd guess about 4-5'.

From other articles I found nothing departed the aircraft, bracket failed and wingtip was loose/moved a bit but stayed with the plane.

From the looks of the pic I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the Wishlist post for bombers enabled on CVs.  :t

This is what I read also,I've seen this bird many times as I live about an  hour from where it's kept.

Would be a real shame to loose her,I wonder what will happen with the up comming airshow season?
