Title: I wish for a sticky for gunsights...
Post by: Volron on April 17, 2012, 11:54:38 PM
I wish for a sticky in the Custom Skins and Sounds section of the forum for gun sights.  AKDogg and Bustr have made some nice historic gun sights, and at times it can be a pain to try and hunt them down.  The other plus side would be for the new people who join and wish to use historic sights (or maybe other sights?) for each plane.  With a sticky holding it up top, it would make it very easy to obtain.

Those are my unhistoric & unoriginal sights.

Thanks.  I just took a sight from some sight pack and then added the rocket/ bomb markings from another sight but I don't know who made that one.  Some squaddie I think.

The Hello Kitty sight is awesome but I think it needs a little tweaking.

Rob,

So what results do you get in your gunsight by neon staining my Revi C\12d and adding rocket marks? Can you post up a screen shot of your bmp file? And a cockpit screen shot of it in action.  I'd like to see how that turned out.

I made the original color match a WW2 color photograph of that reticle. The incandesent bulbs of the period caused a pinkish edge bleed to the yellowish white lines. Took about 6 months to find that color photo from the war. The natch(night) filters made some intense red and blue night fighter reticles. You may not realise that if you are still using it in 512x512 mode, 1Mil=2Pixel. The ring and tick marks are calibrated from the original Revi manuals and work based on the gunnery manual Schiessfibel.

Your rocket marks turn out to be the Stuvi5 reticle used for automated aiming in divebombing used by some Ju87's. The lower verticle line extended another 200Mil down and your rocket mark slid up and down it in response to dive angle and G loading. Like the offline lead computing bomb sight that you can snap screen shots mapped to your rocket/bomb button to setup rocket and bomb marks in your gunsights.

I thought they looked really cool but the glare was bothering me so I removed the glare from inside the round.  The 2 dots below the crosshairs are my markers for allied rockets and the two at the bottom are my divebombing reference.

I'll post some as soon as I get my replacement PSU for my good computer.  This one barely runs fast enough to do youtube.

I stole those marks from this sight.
