Title: Why do Terrain makers get no credit and remain anonymous?
Post by: Citabria on April 18, 2012, 07:55:52 AM
all the skins made by players are given credit for their work.

yet the terrains submmitted by players are uncredited. a little tiny blurb of a name of the terrain apears in the right top corner with no name of the terrain maker.

who made that grinder map? its beautiful?
who made the other maps? no one even knows.

does anyone in aces high even know who made these maps?

Most of the map whiners have no idea what it takes to make a useable terrain.

With all the whining about some of the maps, I wouldn't want my name on them either.

Your right about that Wiley.  I use the expression "cheap seats" a lot in the Army.  This map sucks because ________________.  Really, have you made a map?  No.....  So how is the view from the cheap seats?

<S> Map Makers for putting the hours in that others were not willing to! :salute

I get the logic to that statement.  I don't, however believe it negates the gripe.  I don't need to be a chef to know when someone burned the beans.

Map making is a ton of work, and frankly I don't understand why a person would voluntarily put in the time to make one.  IMO they really should have someone whose paid job is to create maps for the MAs.  The map doesn't particularly matter to me most of the time, but I understand why it does to other people.  But, it's not my house, not my rules.

Wiley.

The maker of a terrain can put the authorship on the clipboard map, if desired.

I credit the problems that occur with specific maps to the way they are utilized/ under-utilized, due to flaws in the system, and not in the design of the maps.  For instance, some maps play too long and some maps play too shortly (any arguements? ).

Because it would end up like it did with uncle Ted this week.

Get a rope.

I agree with the guy who posted above me.  Some maps reset too quickly while others are left in the MA to rot for weeks on end.

So Fester, congrats on being smart enough to make a map. After about 15 minutes working with the terrain editor, I came to the realization that map making was wayyyyy over my head.

How long did it take you to make your map?

Oh.... and thank you for all the hard work you put in to make something for the rest of us to enjoy. I know I probably wasn't an easy thing to do  :salute

Fester made that years ago along with a second.map. at least I'm pretty sure he made the.other one I'm thinking of. It had a single high alt base that everyone fought to.own and 3 long valleys that had a line of gv bases in them, with shore lines for some cv action.

OZKansas in AH 1 was by far the most beautiful map, had custom tiles and palm trees and the like... It almost looked better with that in AH 1 than it does with all the updated graphics of AH 2... Did you ever consider re-doing the custom tiles for AH 2, Cit? Would be a project but would look phenomenal.

the current terrain tools are pretty impressive. I am trying to get my FesterMA finished. it is very tedious stuff with the detail I am trying to put into the terrain texture patterns and elevation mesh.

will contemplate ozkansas after this terrain is submitted.

Hopefully it doesnt take more than 2 years to get in game like the accepted plane skins.

I have always paid a very close attention to detail and precision and accuracy.

I think this contributes a lot to my personal experience of never having to endure a long wait in skins or terrains being added to the game.

I'll tell cactus and the others that. :)

I always assumed that once they accept them ....... it meets the requirements.
