I may not have this right,and it wouldn't be the first time for that,but. Wasnt the Thatch weave a tactic that used the HO? The 2 wingmen would zigzag back and forth as they crossed they could shoot the nme fighter off each others tail if need be

Depends on your definition of the HO in AH.
Most people abuse the 'blatant' HO. IE a long line up, stirring to stick to keep the nose target HO. Especially if the HOer came from a position where the HO wasn't necessary.
Whereas the turned into each other HO is a little less abuse-attracting.
Also the thatch weave wasn't a HO, more a front quarter shot. If it had been a HO i woudlve been hard to line up the bad guy behind your wingie.
