...have you spent flying Aces High? I was taking a trip down memory lane today, going back to Tour 86 when I first starting flying. I began looking at my kills, deaths, players I had killed or killed me...just looking around. Then I began noticing how much time I had spent online. Several tours, I had DAYS worth of time online, not including the time I spent in the TA. :O The time spent in AH with the all the different players I've met has made this more than a game. All the days, hours, minutes, and seconds of my life I have spent here have been quite the opposite of "wasted." :rock
#S# to all that share this addiction with me :salute

the people that i have met are what have kept me here for the 10 or so years ive been playing not the game itself, it got boring years ago.

I remember when I first started playing I was on almost all hours of the day and usually logged 25+ hours a tour. Between tour 99 and 128 though I had a long break and had 15 hours or less for most tours. 2 tours I actually didn't fly 1 sortie for! After that I've been playing more hours with each tour. The past 3 tours I've logged 44 hours, 60 hours, and most recently 51 hours. Tour 143 I logged 80 hours of flight time! :O That's twice as much as almost any other tour.
Doesn't Midway usually log a couple hundred hours each tour?

First tour was sometime from 98-103 under "snacks88" my 3rd kill in the MA was kazaa's spit 16. :ahand

About 10,000 hours virtual flight time in the MA's alone. At least 20% more just watching the map. Many hundreds of hours more for TA work as a trainer, BBS work, flight & program tests, programming, statistical works.
Conservative estimate 14,000 hours total. :uhoh
I could have learned a forgeign language, a musical instrument or almost any trade in that time. :(

I don't measure it in time.....but in kills :t
about 20,000 since tour 52, with a few breaks here and there :O
with about 14,000 deaths, not to bad considering how I fly. :joystick:

pfffftt.... DR7 is closing in on 250,000 :P

Started in 2004, played A LOT!!! Not a day went by without Aces High, through my time with the Birds of Prey squad right up through forming the 91st BG. Lately within the past year & a half, my time has been geared more toward music, and currently I'd guess my spare time as being split pretty evenly between these two hobbies.

that's kills per tour.

So, are you guys just looking at each tour and adding the numbers up or is there a place that gives you totals ?

Yes.
It helps if you had always kept records about your own stats ;)

Well, at lest when your laying on your death bed thinking of all your accomplishments and what people will remember you for, you can think to yourself, "scheisse, I spent my life playing AH, and midway somehow logged more hours than me!"

Too much, currently volunteering none :aok

If you apply the general 10,000 hour rule, you would be an expert at any one of those other vocations.

JUG,
I'm getting to that point myself. Kids, work and I've reached the point of no return on getting any better in the game without committing massive amounts of time to flying.
Speaking of time...anyone seen Dodger? Nope...

Without checking I would guess I average about 40-50 hour a month. I know, a full work week.
For that time commitment I know I could get another degree, etc. I'm ok with my time spent playing this game. I work 60-90 hours a week, and literally book family time weeks in advance. All I do is work and fight for time with the family. Playing this game is the only downtime I get. Yes, I could do something else with the time like get an MBA but then I would have zero stress relief per se.
All work and no play makes Boo a grumpy bstrd. So back to my 109G2 for the next couple months. Balance in life is necessary. AH is part of my balance.

I'm not complaining...it's been a great ride. I've met a lot of fantastic folks and i have a head full of more useless WW II aviation trivia than all my numb-nuts friends put together. In fact, more than my boss Whois an ex-B52 driver and a self-proclaimed war historian. (who argued for 10 minutes that all the Navy HOGS carried 20mm cannons)

I wish I could tell ya but I've had a few different accounts from a long ways back.
I always wished AH was compatible with XFire so I could record my hours.
Heck let's see my top 3 games on XFire.
Game: Hours in the last 7 days Total Hours
World of Tanks 21 hours 1,355
America's Army 0 hours 879
Call of Duty 2 0 hours 387
Now: Compared to my max recorded hours of total gaming (This does not include AH and other games not compatible with XFire and also does not account for the months I went without an internet connection and played single player games or moments when XFire was down.) I have: 5,418 hours.

None of its "wasted". The point of living is to take care of the things you have to do and then do the things that you like to do. Work every hour and scrounge every cent and you'll probably end up dieing young, rich, alone, and all after a boreing life. For me TV, puters, have taken the place of movies, chasing girls, boozing....ect. You only got one life so fill it with leisure time too.
-
I'll usually play 60 to 70 hours a month, used to play twice as much when I first started, but I'll go for 4, 5 or 6 months without playing at all. It just depends on what I've got going on at home and how my rental properties are holding up. When things are running smooth I play and when things go to crap I don't <shrugs>.
