Title: Why *you* Collide
Post by: Torquila on April 19, 2012, 10:35:50 AM
- Because you say you dont.
- You think a third or fourth con entering the current 2v1 or 3v1 you are currently in isn't worth the effort to avoid, so you try to ho em out of laziness.
- While zooming through a bomber stream you forget to trim your plane properly due to bad SA.
- You were unable to take in account possible changes of people you chase, bad SA as well.

When I collide, it is usually diving with much greater speed then my target and staying on him to get just a few more bullets into him.  Smack.  Stayed on target an instant too long.

When I collide , its simply because I am still relatively new and have problems with my control.. I have only collided with vehicles so far cause I am too low however.

While zooming through a bomber stream you forget to trim your plane properly due to bad SA. <----that makes no sense to me.

I see you have no more of a clue since the last time you posted a collide thread. If I collide, which is rarely, 9 times out of 10 it's because of a quick turner, i.e. brewster, hurricane, zero or spit turning back into me trying to get a ho shot when all else has failed.

*WHEN* I collide... that's about it... I'm good at it..Nomally because I didn't see: the ground, bullets, cannon shells, trees, I'm not picky.

Oh and kids.. Please don't try this at home... I'm what you call.. "An expert"....    :bhead :x :lol

I collide because I am an idiot and misjudged the angle of attack. To everyone I collided with, or may collide with in the future, I apologize. I don't mean to do it.  :o

That has happened to me too!  It does not mean we are careless.

When you are going significantly faster than your target and at close range, if they pull an unexpected move this can easily result in a collision.  That is just a fact.  If you don't want to risk a collision never engage an opponent!  I am 100% OK with this.  It is part of the game.  There is a risk of a collision one cannot manuver away from in every engagement.  :old:

I cause quite a few.  If I get someone on my 6, I tend to flop, drop(flaps) and chop(throttle) and watch the spixteen run his propeller into my aileron.  Jug wins 80% of the time.

this and slow flat scissors cover pretty much all my (very rare) collisions.

well, those and crashing a 262 into buffs because I can only hit with taters from inside d50

Against bombers, it's because I press the attack in too close and end up clipping the bomber, like this:

instead of like this:

Against fighters, its more varied.  One case is when my opponent is slowing quickly, and I'm trying to blow him up before I pass him and push it too close in that attempt, like this:

Another is if we are both going for head-on shots, and I'm gambling on my aim being better than his but end up being wrong. :)

Most collisions happen because the consequences for a collision are next to nil.

I collide because colliding was very common in World War II aerial combat as 9/10 pilots were noobies and I'm a bit of a history walnut - and half the time the collision code will kill the other guy and not me :)

When I collide, I do so because I'm a dweeb and flew too fast.

I collide because I get too locked on to my target.

Most often I misjudge my opponent's maneuver.  There have been a few times I thought my opponent was turning away, when he was turning towards me.  I ended up with a head on shot, and collision.

When it happens again a few minutes later, I figure I've been flying too long, I am tired, and it's time to quit for a while.
