Levon Helm the drummer and guitarist for The Band died today.
The Band was a smash in the late 60s and early 70s.
The Weight, Up on Cripple Creek just a few of the hits The Band made.
They were originaly the backup band to Bob Dylan professionaly after
a few years of playing in barns and Bars.
I shall miss him....as I miss The Band.

"The night they drove old Dixie down
And all the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down
And the people were singing
They went, "Na, na, na."
RIP Levon Helm

I liked his acting as well. He played Loretta Lynn's father in Coal Miner's Daughter, he also played Chuck Yeager's sidekick Ripley in The Right Stuff, to name just a couple.
RIP.
