Title: P40 Found in the Sahara
Post by: cpxxx on April 23, 2012, 06:25:48 PM
Surprised this hasn't been featured before on this forum. Some photos emerged on the internet puporting to show a British P40 in the Egyptian desert. A lot of people including me thought they were fake.
Then these videos emerged:

Does anyone know what became of the pilot? I noticed in the video they were trying to open the cockpit.

No doubt when the serial of the aircraft is revealed. That story will be told. The fact that the canopy is closed implies he closed it. Doesn't mean he survived his time in the desert though.

I assumed so also.

From reading another forum, the aircraft is in a military area thus protected to some extent. Someone who is working in the area is going to visit it and try and get the serial.
