Title: Ju 87B-1 or B-2
Post by: Nefarious on May 11, 2012, 09:09:51 PM
With the remodel and new addition of the Ju87, It would be awesome to get the early war variant of the Ju87. It was the main Stuka variant until the addition of the D models which started appearing in service in Mid 1941.

Just thinking about this going into tonights Battle of Britains FSO.

With the G model being added, don't count on it anytime soon. No sense in asking for the B model.

Probably no better time to ask for a B model than right now.

Been askin this for YEARS. The B1 was fitted with the Jericho Siren and with such an iconic plane during the war, I just cannot imagine NOT having it. Though it was much slower than the D3, just the thought of even a mission with 20 of them diving down to a base would be bad a**

Until the enemy turns that siren slider all the way to off.  BUT!!! WE hear it....and THAT is what counts. :devil  Oh the video's that could be done using USRanger's Twin River's map...:x

You can replace the wind.wav file in the Stuka folder to have the sirens...

yes but the cool thing would be a new sound added so when you dive the ground forces can hear the loud siren and not just yourself

TwinBoom's soundpack already has the jericho siren when the stuka noses over into a dive. Of course, the people I'm egging don't hear it, but I hear it on my end, so it makes me all warm inside as I drop my 1800kg on their group of perk tanks.  :D

That was one of the fun reasons to up a Ju87B in AW and dog fight in it because the other guy could hear the siren.

ack-ack

The sirens were mainly only used in Poland and France, against undefended populations to strike terror into them. In fact some people were brought up on war crimes for terrorizing civilians later on because of that.

I believe by the time the BOB was taking place they were being phased out already and it wouldn't be much of an impact. The performance difference and simply the LOOK of the squared-off canopy are more important IMO. Minor, yes, but it would be nice to see.

from what i have read, they started attaching whistling devices to the bombs and removed the gear strut mounted sirens in order to reduce drag but still achieve the psychological effects they where after.  There is even some video on youtube of an interview with a stuka pilot who said that he disliked the permanently mounted sirens because of the drag they caused and that even at cruising speed they produced a wail loud enough to be a distraction to the pilot.

still +1000 for the early stuka's inclusion, because of the performance differences and especially the different look of the early airframes.
