do you lets the game do it or do you set it to a coustom one? im likeing 125 it gives a sense of speed.
-
FOV?
-
Field of View settings. It's an option in the video settings menu that pops up when you first load the game (not the in arena settings).
I use default.
-
I let the system set it. I figure HTC programmed it to work best at the settings that it chooses. Who am I to second guess the system?

Yea I thought about this too. however everyone is diffrent right?
-
I play at 120 FOV (100 is default).
-
i play with 3 23 inch monitors, i can see from wingtip to wingtip, almost :D. my fov is at 148 or 147 and that is so i can look at my ammo counter on the pony mainly.

I hate squashing my vision, so I always use the default, 106 for my 1600x900 monitor.
-
Default
-
1920x1080 Resolution on a 23" montitor with a 115 fov.
-
Experience from other games: Higher FOV multiplies your dogfighting ability.
Definetely recommended if it doesn't cause headaches.
-
150 fov on 2460x1600
-
So by changing the fov it changed the speed of how you see things?

you can see around you better that higher the FOV. so yes it feels faster

Not really , but the sense is stuff moves by faster.
-
Maybe we can create another AH myth from this.
"When you increase FOV, you fly faster"
"Ah, that's how the *insert plane* did catch my F4U, how gamey!"
:noid :bolt:

I would wonder if the distorted sense of speed might screw with your ability to judge and predict distances. Especially if the FOV is set in such a way that distances are warped at different amounts depending on where they are in your viewpoint.
Maybe I don't understand completely how this all really works though.
-

all it does is change the field of view. I recommend leaving it at its default unless you use multiple monitors and you will not gain anything over someone else by adjusting your field of view. It's not going to make you any better or worse than the next guy.

it actually depends on your eyesight as most of ah players are aarp members.

That is what SA is for.

higher FOV gives better SA

FOV does not give better SA, well maybe it does...1% better then the default. Learning to track bandits, classify them - based on height and speed - and do this every 2 seconds - is what SA is about.

The horrifying thing is, that is absolutely not farfetched at all. I used to play an MMO game where you could customize your character's appearance, size, etc.
There were people there who believed shorter characters moved faster because the lower POV made it look like the ground was going by faster.
Wiley.

No, it will not give you an advantage over another player.

I dunno what you guys are smoking, but change your FOV to as low as you can go and try it a bit online; then try it at something high or so and see how your ability to dogfight is effected.
FOV's positive effects on one's ability to dogfight (for non-freelook players) is undeniable. Even with a freelook system, it makes a good bit of difference.

City of heros?
Yup.

u can see at a wider angle.

It's not going to give you an advantage no matter what your little mind thinks. You're better off learning ACM and tactics than relying on FOV to *snicker* increase your mad skillz.
