I used to have 6 MBPS, then I got a new provider (Verizon) and now the best they can offer is 1 MBPS...If someone is on "netflix" then it goes down to below 0.50 MBPS... :bhead
Talked to some squaddies and they said they had like 8, 10, 11, 15, ETC. :(
-
Best I can manage is about 384Kb/s (that is about 35KB/s).
-
9.1 to 16.22 in 4 different tests. If that isnt good it ought to be with what Im paying Comcast. Tho Im sure thats a number based on usage populations right? Its 1 pm on a Tues. and who but me would be on the I-net in the neighborhood.
-
Solid 11.5
-
i've been having alot of problems with GCI, i should be getting 10mbps but im barley getting 1mbps right now

Not Fios right? I have Fios and my highest dl speed was around 4MB/sec. Depending on what server I'm downloading from, it can be as low as 100kb/sec or 4MB/sec. Steady internet, very rare when I lose a connection, though when I do (like once every 5 months) I just restart the router and problem is solved. I know Fios can handle more than 4MB/sec though. I can download and play online games at the same time without lag, so if it wasn't for the servers, I could probably get 15+MB/sec.
It's good to live in NYC. :D

We've got DSL from Sasktel which is 2.5mbit/s down and 1.0 mbits up. We've just ordered Shaw (cable here) with 250megabits down 15mbitsup. With DSL I can get 500kps download max, but with the Shaw that they demo'd at our home for us, I should get ten to twenty times that. It's 120 dollars a month or so, but well worth the insane speeds for what I want to use it for. Canada has very cheap internet. That's with no download limit as well for the dsl, and 1000 gig per month limit on the Shaw system, which I'll never touch, as I don't download 33 gigs a day, I'll only need a tenth that I'm sure.

35 mb down, 4mb up

If I tether my Droid Bionic to the computer and use it's 4G connection, my speed is usually between 18-24 mbs, otherwise it's more like 3-5 mbs
-
20.77Mpbs upload and 2.48 up according to UPC. Half thinking of upgrading to 100 Mpbs.

I have 1Gbps capacity wired since 2004, but don't really need it at home. The domestic infrastructure supports that speed and most domestic servers are pushing close to 1Gbps now, but it's wasted on servers outside the country. It would be like driving a Lamborghini in Manhattan traffic... :)

the modem or whatever detects when you are doing a test and gives you the best score possible. but once that is over you get nowhere near what the test indicates. at least not for me.

In my village i got 256kbps download, upload is 24kb/s. At least my father pays 30 bux per month for that cheit, the fluffin provider is in a monopol... Was 128kbps for the same money til 2 years ago, LMFAO
In the capital, where i study, its 10Mbps down and 2Mbps up for 10 bux... sheesh

Best I can manage is about 384Kb/s (that is about 35KB/s).
That's because you run TCP over tin-can-string between your quadruple redundant stateful packet inspection firewall scheme to keep the CIA's invisible monkeys next door from listening to the magnetic field coming over normal ethernet cables.
I think your real bottleneck is the heliograph link to the mountaintop signal fire though. The guy flapping the blanket is a lazy rat and he's ripping you off while selling your packets to the DHS, through Dick Cheney's black ops corporation.
-
LOL eagl!
I wish I could blame my implementation, then I would have a chance to fix it. Using Clear wireless as it is my only viable option at the moment as I refuse to pay $180/month to AT&T for a data capped service with video I have no need for.

Just take a look at some other people's and you'll get an idea. Also, check out your "Faster Than" number, you are faster than 56% of the US. So it's kind of in the middle. Not super speedy but very adequate for most internet activities.

I think I found the secret to all these "uber" pilots...extremel lag. When they make those 800 yards tater shots, they're really only 200 away. I think it's time to downgrade to a phone line. :noid :devil

The biggest problem (for me) of having a big download capacity is the feeling that I have to use it. I download the entire Internet on Fridays and read it over the weekend.
I'm exhausted.
-
Mipok, what in the HELL is that connection? That has to be close to an 800megabit/s service to be getting 102 megaBYTES download speed. University connection or something?
I'm insanely jealous of that. The 250mbit I'm getting next week will MAYBE max out at 25mbytes down, and you've getting 4 times that. Crazy.

Nothing special, basic cable broadband connection. 110/10. Modem is Cisco EPC3825 EuroDocsis 3.0 Gateway.

You are still 10 times faster. I really am not complaining. It is what is. If I was not so hard-headed about AT&T raping me with their pricing, I could have faster Internet.
There was a time when I thought it would be neat to have a high speed connection, but I use the Internet so little it makes no sense to fork over big bucks for something I use so infrequently. I probably average an hour, or less, a week on the Internet when I am at home. Most of that time is spent scanning our bulletin board.
I really do not feel like I am missing anything. I'd rather be out cruising with hot rodders than sitting behind a monitor.

Time Warner Cable in Wichita Falls. They have a faster tier of service for an extra $10 or $15 per month but I turned that off after the free trial ended. Also, I think speedtest.net may be exaggerating the download speed a bit. I think I'm actually getting around 10Mbps but the test shows higher because Time Warner has a speed boost feature that starts off every download at nearly triple the sustained speed, for a few seconds. That lets smallish files download really fast and makes the connection seem faster than it otherwise would. After a few seconds of the burst speed it drops to around 10Mb/s for the remainder of the dl.
Overall I'm happy with the service, but they do have a bit more downtime than I would have liked. Every month or two the network simply goes down for a while.
And it's expensive. Oh well. At least my area isn't saturated so I almost never see the big slowdowns that people get in over-subscribed cable internet areas. Local DSL is 1/10th the speed at the same price and the new fiber to the door services aren't here yet so there aren't really any decent alternatives.
