I see a lot of comments about the "Straits" and suggestions on how to improve the value of getting a mission together to hit a "Strait". I too, have had problems getting guys to join me for a strait run, because it is not worth the time and trouble. Not sure what Hi Tech needs to do to make it more attractive, but I feel that a part of the game is not being fully explored! I would love to take a 30 or 40 bomber mission to hit a strait, but right now, its much more attractive to hit a base and try to capture it. Consider this: A C-46 commando, which could carry 30 troops and 20 of which would have to enter each "factory" in order to capture that plant. If one country or the other captures 4 of the plants, that country would win the "war". Of course you would need a vehicle base close by for defensive purposes, restricted to ground to air attack vehicles only. C-46's would have the option of landing within 5 miles of the strait involved and have the ability to "run" to the nearest plant. What do you guys think? I guess I am "day dreaming", but it sure would add a lot action around the straits!

The issue is, there are no straits in the game (at least the MA) because of the non-historical maps we use. You will only find them on historical maps used for special events.
Oh wait...

Given that's 10 to 13 players that entirely reasonable now.

This idea would cause grief to other players until they would be captured back. And no idea how hard how long how anything it would take. But, capturing a factory would leave a country without a source for fuel, for example. No. Capturing factories would not win my vote.

I liked having capturable strat targets in AW, it really did create some epic fights to capture and defend the depots that would supply the nearby fields.
ack-ack

<sigh> Yes it did Ack-Ack. I recall fondly.

Ft. Apache scenarios and the Fuel Depot scenario at the end of the Battle of the Bulge movie would be grand during prime time play with hundreds of willing players looking for a fight and going at it in an epic way.
Unfortunatly in off prime time, milk runners and greifers like the vTards used to be would wreck the map. Then tell everyone in the morning crew to go kiss a stinky pig becasue HTC made it this way and they were only using their imaginations. Can't disagree with the logic. What else would you do alone in a candy shop with no rules?
Wonder how unmanageable the codeing would be to have the game heuristicly increase the strategic complexity of the map and targets based on total arena population numbers and expected prime times. Then back it out predictably to protect the late night map? I know war never sleeps. But, the supposed ultimate protection of a map is numbers of players looking for enemy movement to engage against.
Right now we have an infant cause and effect process with the Factory Strats moving in response to captured feilds. I suppose this could shoot itself in the foot by diluting the player population willing to fight around the map avoiding conflict by focusing on the increasing number of toys coming online as prime time is cycled into.
As is map creators are trying to funnel players into each other to cause conflict. This might pull them apart and be confusing.

This is a problem we have from time to time in AVA. (Not with the V-brigade but in general) I wish we had a way to set eny values for all troop carriers so that they are disabled when there is little chance of a defense.

OK, so I can't spell! The Kardashin's have proved you don't have to have brains to get ahead!

I wouldn't follow their example myself but if that's your thing you'd better kill a few more brain cells.

greifers like the vTards used to be.
Hap of late I've become impressed with individual members of the brigade. They are resourceful and worthy opponents showing quite a lot of potential. Some of them are showing up in furballs in G2 with gondola. Good on them... :aok
They will have to live with the vTard stigma untill it fades into an Aces High urban legend and something to laugh about killing time in bombers during FSO. This will be around the time HTC's next big game change creates a new generation of clever exploiters to cause us greif and new fights.
It's all part of the game's cycle......heck my pigs call me gramps.....pretty soon these vGuys will be calling a new group vDorks for Dorking their game play.....to some degree or another we are forced to earn our way in this game over time by growing thick skin just like real life.
Rats, now we gotta wait for a new vDork squad to get out of school to give us someone to play Whack-A-Mole with.
Change is a beautiful woman with a cold beer in one hand and a cattle prod in the other.

You should learn how to accept a compliment and realise change is happening.
But, it is hard to see it from the inside of the phenominon without years of practice. Human nature is to resist change in favor of the memories of what was a good time even if the factors driving the good time are diverging away. Change happens with you or to you no matter how agressively you defend the memory. Tradition is how a group who evolves with change maintains the past into the future.
Some squad at some time in this game gets a bad name and derisive variations of it. Eventualy the game moves past them and the next squad down the path gets their 15 minutes of strange fame while their members move on with their lives. This too will pass and become a part of the collective history of the game. Some events in the games history have left us with game meme's good and bad. I suspect vTard will be part of the game fabric for some time and not equal "wow what a hot stick" when uttered at a future player. Fortunately only a few will even remember the word or it's connotation prefering a neative meme from our larger cultural group like eh@le.....
