Title: Battleship
Post by: F22RaptorDude on May 21, 2012, 08:58:41 PM
Saw it with my friend tonight, was impressed with it over all, plot was still very loose but it did contain a battleship game reference. Main thing that got me was they were able to bring a world war 2 battleship to life in the Hawaii harbor, fired those steam boilers up in about 5 seconds instantly had 1,000 psi of pressure, everything worked without a hitch, and guess what! The ship had plenty of live ammo just conveniently laying around for use. Not only that but after the main characters wash up ashore, they want to take the battleship out, get a few cool panning views then you see the veterans all over the ship in places you wonder "How the hell did they get up there" and "my god have they been there this whole time with the aliens destroying everything!?"  :rofl :rofl Few laughs, had some decent action, hardly any language, and was what you probably already think of it

I mean it wasn't terrible or bad, just a lot of hollywood bull crap, overall I would give the movie 7 out of 10 stars

This getting taken over by Aliens is starting to get old. I secretly thought "Battle for L.A." was stupid and silly but never said it cause I didnt want to seem un-American. But you gotta wonder how insects smart enough to go faster then light cant shoot straighter. :headscratch:

Why would not liking it be un-American? Independece Day was cheesy as hell too. But cheesy is just fine for summer action flicks.

Does stuff go boom, have a nearly tangible plot, and at least one busty good looking girl in it?

If so then yes I will go see it  :D

Horrible film.  Absolutely horrible.

There's also a new low budget copycat film starring Carl Weathers called 'American Battleship'
It's not worth checking out either.

Girl was ok, played a big part in saving the world in the end. Seeing those ships fire their main guns really got me ramped though, nothing like a giant arse gun lobbing rounds at an alien space ship to make your day  :D

Just about everything Liam Neeson is involved in turns out to be total crap.  He's a bigger movie Ho then Sean Connery turned out to be...

I'll wait until it's free on cable TV, and I don't have anything better to do.

Schindlers List = Liam Neeson = Absolutely Amazing.

As for the movie. Yes, its stupid. But Sh!!!t goes boom. Nuff said.

Independence Day is one of my favorite movies, its simply the best.

I'll give you that one.  I thought Rob Roy was ok as well.  But a large percentage of his more recent movies are just garbage.

You should watch the Syfy Channel TV movie American Warship. It's basically a dumbed down, low budget version of the same movie. But I think parts of it were shot on the Iowa so there is that. I liked how they got from Pearl to Korea answering a distress call in just a few hours. Then there's the part where a main turret explodes and a 4 sqft chunk of armor flys thru the air and hits a 120lb woman, pinning her down on deck so the Captain rushes over, lifts it off her and she walks away without a scratch. Oh yeah, the Captain ignores the orders of the Vice Admiral that was on board and neither of them knew what Sound Powered Phones were.

I smell Emmy.

Don't even do it, no matter if it's free, even picking belly button lint is more entertaining than this movie.

Like I said, only thing I liked is seeing the war ships, firing the guns, instant drool covered shirt

You need to see the Syfy pic just so you can appreciate how bad it is.

I couldn't make it all the way through Red Tails even holding my nose.  Thank god Lucas not making any more mainstream movies!
