E6,
Sure you're not getting stuck in high gear? With the new system it's easy to do depending on how you have your controls setup.
:salute

I've run into the gear thing sometimes myself. Wonder if it would help palyers if Hitech mapped a tiny vertical graphic to the side of the screen that had a pointer which moved up and down with the gear changes and current speed. Most of them drive in Commander mode I bet.
=3 m.p.h=

They already show the gear and the MPH for you. They don't need to change anything.

The change to automatic transmissions has changed very much how the tanks put down the power.
It feels like they are limiting torque now instead of how it was modeled before.
It's ruined the t34 which can now get stuck sideways on a shallow slope when you try to traverse it.

Tested this offline still the same thing it will just slide sideways no go Panz gose rite up that hill with ease :headscratch: :old: :salute

this is ture the t34 will no longer go up a very big hill in first gear the automatic transmission is fine in the vehicles like the jeep and M3 but in the tank it just feels like theres no power being put to the ground going up a hill
-
Tried this myself today, it is true the T34 will not climb up a hill in 1st gear. But it was no problem to go up the hill in reverse! So I guess they forgot to reduce the torque in the reverse.. :aok

Even in manual transmission there were hills which it wouldnt climb up in first, but would manage to in reverse. That being said though, I too, do agree that there seems to be a noticeable loss of torque in the T34 from the manual days. I dunno, maybe it wasnt meant to earlier and now they fixed it?

I've compared the AH T34 to YouTube videos of real T34s. The AH version has too little torque in first gear: it will not pivot turn as fast as the real one and it doesn't accelerate in first gear as quickly.
Hints for climbing hills in AH T34s:
a) don't
b) use reverse
c) never attempt to turn; turning brakes one track and reduces power a lot
d) if you get stuck side hill and must turn, do so in reverse

thanks for the tips 715 :aok

You's be suprised what you can get a T-34 to do....She is my main workhorse.
The biggest thing I think people miss is that there are two options for acceleration/Gear shifting.
If you go to map keys you will see that there is an option for a key that allows simply the highest gear only automatically, then there is another one that will allow you to manually shift through your gears, both can be mapped where you wish, keyboard or joystick :salute

I don't see that anywhere. All I see is "Accelerate", "Full Speed", "Slow Down/Reverse", and "Stop".

Yeah, hitting the accelerate button will take you through the gears, and let you stop at the one you want.
And I think a big reason the T-34 doesn't climb hills as well is because it only has 4 forward gears, while other tanks have 6. So where a Panzer might be climbing the hill in 2nd, a T-34 might be forced to climb the same hill in 1st gear.
