Wondering if there is any difference / advantage between nvidia and HD video cards as far as AH goes.
For instance between an nvidia GTX 570 and HD 7850-7870 will one have better drivers or have more issues with the game ?

not really. people have used both at one point or another. i did, 2 nvidia's and 1 ati. you might notice a bit smoother textures and better shadow rendering with the nvidia card. the amd card will give you consistent stable performance across the board. but you can bring both brands to their knees with a bad driver or bad system configuration. both nvidia's i used suffered from microstutters on and off through several ah updates, my ati card never did.

think of AMD/ATI as the muscle car. cheap yet fast. think of nivida as the sports cars. VERY FAST, yet VERY expesive. and has the best quality.
i prefer AMD/ATI i dont want to spend 500$ on a video card. and then AMD will overclock WAY easier.

Not so... It's a personal choice. The AMD cards are just as good as the Nvidia cards. Depends on your budget and what your setup is more than which brand to go with.

I whole heartedly agree
edit: I have always used judgement with what my MBs chipset er who the chipset is by.
That would always let me know which make to go with.....

One brand might do a little better with a certain game when comparing a certain card vs card and ATI vs Nvidia. While shopping for a card, read some reviews and compare. Nvidia is better in tesselation also. I am not saying that nvidia is better.
I bought a ATI card this time around, my last card was a nvidia.

Thanks for the input guys,
TC that makes sense - so if the MB is intel based its probably better to go with nvidia card

get whatever is on sale and in stock at a website you wont have to pay state taxes in. if your in california try and fine a newegg ebay auction - no tax but still great price, shipping speed, and everything else thats great about newegg.

not so much any more. years back there were several iterations of intel motherboards that used the nvidia nforce and/or geforce northbridge chipsets that would not play nice with ati/amd video cards. those were the times you wanted to use an nvidia graphics card on an intel system. now the issue is sli vs crossfire vs both. you can find some amd chipset mobos that won't support sli mode and some intel chipset boards that won't support crossfire mode, then there are a few mobos that are certified to run both.

Basically you cant really go wrong with aither brand. anything over 150 bucks should run AH very well.
If you had to choose between the GTX570 and the HD7870, i would shoose the Ati: about the same performance, a lot less power usage, also a newer architecture instead of the 2 years old Fermi. Or, just wait a month for the GTX660Ti and see how it performs.
