I have scoured black vipers site, I found the answer once before by happenstance, but cant find it now :bhead. I have some things that start up due to driver install, such as my RJ45LAN driver. I need it to have internet, but when I download the driver it starts a Bigfoot Network manager (its a BigFoot chip). I dont need the program running to have internet, but I need to driver. How do I change when a program starts, or disable it from starting at start up when I boot?

There's plenty of options to prevent programs from starting automatically at startup.
I already started to type a list, but to save my time, Sevenforums has done a good tutorial (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1401-startup-programs-change.html).

You could try Autoruns. It's free.
If you find the program you want to disable from startup, just uncheck it and it's done.
You can find it here:

Usually run -> cmd -> msconfig does the trick. Autostart apps are listed there and you can disable what you wish. A word of warning - do not start to disable services from msconfig though unless you absolutely know what you're doing as it won't warn you which service is essential to run the system.

before you do anything like that make sure you back up any data you have. i hope you have a partition or two on your hard drive. that way if you mess up no harm done to your important data and you can just reinstall windows. trust me on this one, i have messed up windows about 30 minutes after I had just reintalled it :).

For years I've used Glary Utilities which has both a great startup manager, and a process manager.
Both have a button or right click to google search that entry to get opinions on exactly if you really need to leave any given entry or can safely disable it.
And also handy for cleaning up registry etc.
Simple enough for anyone to use safely, yet full featured enough to satisfy the power user.
But I do suggest you only make 1 change at a time.
