Title: The Adventures Of Bevis (1MADDOG1) & Butthead (Daddkev)
Post by: 1MADDOG1 on May 29, 2012, 01:13:51 PM: With the Dayton Gathering coming up in July, I’ve decided to go once again (4th year in a row) now, only with a little twist. I’ve been knowing Daddkev first through the EWMA and then through the Aces High eXtreme Air Racing League, all total from over approximately three plus years. This year, I’m driving to California to pick up Daddkev and take him with me. The trip will start out with me leaving Pensacola, Florida sometime shortly after the first of June and running mostly the I-10 route. I’ll be making a stop in Houston, Texas (maybe see BMathis again) before continuing, then on to meet with Daddkev south of Los Angeles. We’ll be there until approximately June 13th and then to Las Vegas for a couple of days. Next, a couple or few days near Reno, Nevada to meet up with HB555 (the Lead CM of AHXARL). Then, on to Salt Lake City, Utah to meet spammer (another race league CM), spending a couple or few days as well. From there, Daddkev and I will venture to Little Rock, Arkansas for a few days, meeting up with JVnotch, KAZ (both race league CM’s) and BadBunny. JVnotch knows this great BBQ place near there. Upon leaving Little Rock, a quick stop over in Pocahontas, Arkansas then on to Dayton, Ohio for the gathering and air show, arriving there sometime on July 2nd (the link for the Dayton gathering is a “sticky” at the top of the general discussions forum). As with any good trip or gathering, pictures are sure to follow as well as updates. :rofl :rofl :rofl If anyone living near the areas we are planning to stay or the routes we will be traveling want to meet up for coffee/soda/lunch/flying “NEKKED” lessons :O :devil :O and/or photo ops, post up here or much preferred, send a PM.

After giving it much thought, I've decided to rent a vehicle for the long trip. I don't want lingering odors of Daddkev in my own vehicle. :rofl :ahand :rofl

lol im thinking more along the lines of this............ it's 506 miles to Dayton, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses ...Hit It!!!!!!!!

:rofl I have a couple pairs of glasses already. :rofl Extra gas cans, 20-30 cartons of cigs, fireworks, AK-47, Ruger Mini-30, 9MM, 3k rnds. of ammo, Mardi Gras beads, crazy hats and a fat wallet. No room to fit my walker or wheelchair. A man has to have his priorities.

Someone call The Fugitive. This could end up being a good series of cartoons before it's all over with.

It was a bad night. I only made $465.00. Made it to Houston a few hours ago and had a great lunch meeting with BMWgs. He's a cool gent. Over at an old friends place for a couple of hours then on the
road again.

Which reminds me - since this is a leasure trip for you, and Daddkev's tiger blooded to keep him up all night - try to avoid the rush hours in LA.

They got dogs between San Diego and Phoenix everytime now, sometimes two check stations, and the dogs, 24 hours now.

That pays for the two hour shopping trip in El Paso. Wished Butthead could have made it but oh well. Meeting up with mike115 and his wife in a couple of hours for dinner. Meeting some old friends tomorrow then off to meet HB555 and his wife near Reno on monday. Pics to follow in a few days.

We'll have a small Oktoberfest end of September sometime at our hangar, but 4-months from now would be the end of the air show season so she'll probabley be around anytime that's good for you. Last I looked on the interwebs, nobody beats our backseat ticket price, and 100% of it goes back into the planes. (I will ask the bean counters to make sure, I know donations are, but the rides might be tax deductable too).

Last weekend I helped around a sweet older couple from Ireland that scheduled a whole California vacation around his warbird ride here. He was another 60-year-young kid in the candy store, but I'm still laughing over how enthusiastic and springy his wife got over just getting/wanting to sit in our spitfire cockpit.

Post by: 1MADDOG1 on July 17, 2012, 03:08:34 PM: Yea! I arrived back home last Wednesday after 7, 554 miles total. Finally unpacked the "Soccer Mom" Mini-Van and got a system up. First, my modem was going out so, I had to go to Best Buy and get me a new one. Finally hooked up and good to go. Now, for all the updates missed: After leaving Pensacola, Florida on June 6th & 6,148 miles later, I finally made it to the main objective, Dayton, Ohio on July 1st. Places visited along the way include: Biloxi, MS/Baton Rouge, LA/Houston, TX/El Paso, TX/Hemet, CA/Las Vegas, NV/Washoe Valley, NV/Carson City, NV/Wendover, NV/Salt Lake City, UT/Kearney, NE/Pocahontas, AR/Little Rock, AR/Lawrenceburg, TN/Loretto, TN. I have had a great time meeting & visiting with BMWgs, Daddkev, mike115, HB555, spammer, KAZ & JVNotch. July 3rd - Spent a nice evening with SHawk and Robin. Had a great meal, did some laundry and got some movies. Had a great time at the Dayton Gathering meeting a few old faces and a few new ones.
