Title: Crossfirex - AH flickering at high resolutions
Post by: SEViper on May 29, 2012, 08:56:16 PM
Hey Guys,

I recently added a card to my rig......probably has been the most painful computer experience ever... :bhead

Anyway, I can't get the ATI crossfirex working with high 3D resolution in AH. (5760X1080/H56khz/v50khz)

I can run AH at 1920X1020 using Crossfirex and crossfirex works great, if I dial it up, I get flickering......

I have 3 Acer H233H monitors using Matrox tripleheadtogo (digital)

the video cards are as follows:

CARD 1: ATI HD3870
CARD 2: ATI HD3870 X2

Thanks,
SEVIPER

There really is nothing the game can do to impact this.  We have no control over the ATI/AMD Crossfire profiles, nor the Matrox Triplehead2Go which would impact this.

I have no idea why one resolution would be stable and another be flickering.  It could be the Triplehead2Go, or the ATI drivers.

interesting...with that x2 video card in place you're running triple crossfire configuration. what version of driver/software suite are you using? and when you say 3d are you talking actual 3 dimensional graphics or triple screens? i know the matrox software allows a max resolution of 5040x1050 @60hz or 5760x1200 @ 50hz (not khz). what happens when you go to 5040x1050 @60hz?

It's actually two cards with one crossfirex connector and 3 monitors.

I agree with skuzzy.  It's either:

1. Matrix display drivers. (10% chance.)
2. Ati video driver (10% chance.)
3. Ati video driver and crossfirex profile. (80%)

Lost almost a month of racking kills over this crap.  If I disable crossfirex in the ccc configuration, video at that resolution works fine.   :salute

:rofl  of course it's one of those 3 things!!!  :lol

if the video card you listed as CARD 2: ATI HD3870 X2 is a dual slot version then that card is a dual gpu internal crossfire connected video card...2 graphics cards in 1. both graphics processing units share the onboard memory. with that single slot card in the system and connected, you have a triple crossfire configuration. and from what i've been able to find, the mobo needs to have 2 pci-e slots that run at x16 or crossfirex will automatically downgrade performance to the lowest specs.

gotta ask if you tried 5040x1050 @60hz and what were the results?

someone posted a question at tomshardware in 2008 regarding the same configuration you have...
