Title: battlefield evolution
Post by: tuton25 on June 03, 2012, 07:13:46 PM
My Idea is pretty out in left field but has some merit.......
My Idea is for a arena that starts with aircraft for pre-1939 and every week one more years worth of aircraft added every week (so a plane/vehical that didn't see action till 1942 couldn't be used till week 4).
The therory behind this is for the people who want post war/experimental planes can use them but only for a short period of time.
The arena(s) would be larger and there would also be a free to play first person shooter added as a teaser/keep the number of people in the arena up.
Each nation would also have a pair of countries asighned to it (i.e. the rooks would use german and italian equipment) to make this arena even more like a simulator.
just my $0.02

I just think that this game has evolved from a flight simulator to a World War 2 simulator
HiTec wouldn't have to do much to make the game a fps because they can model the pilot when he ejects

While it's no longer a 'pure' flight combat sim, it is absolutely not a WW2 simulator in any way. It's just using WW2 equipment for a fantasy setting (at least in the Mains), and for a very good reason.
Just think about the gameplay balance. How popular would the Rook side of your example be, when all they got are German and Italian equipment? Just think of B-17, B-24, B-26, B-29, Lancaster vs Ju-88 and Arado 234...

How would that be better? Still massive imbalances, actually worse than in the first example.

At least for Russia/Japan. They'd get screwed over hard. And the British/German side would most likely dominate the fight.

The old combat theater was more WW2.

I still would like to see changes where there are more tank battles and a free to play portion added

I don't think you'll EVER see a free to play option again for Aces High. It's only 50 cents a day.

I think they would get more people playing if they add that
google and facebook do it (and are very sucsessful, by the way), why cant HiTec???

because they make their money on selling subscriptions. They don't sell anything else like bonus stuff, or data to companies and such. It's the type of business model they have.

There used to be free Head to Head rooms but those were removed because the H2H rooms were being abused by some players and now it's only available to paying customers.

think of it this way
a 14 year old kid is running around and a spitfire comes in and guns him down
he then goes and gets his parents to get a subscription to kill that spitfire
see.........fool proof!!!!!!

From past precedents, it really isn't fool proof.
