Udorn-Thani RTAFB, I was part of the 432nd Tac Recon Wing affectionately known as 'the Mig Killers'
..a lot of the planes behind me had red stars on their vari-ramps and more than a few had multiples.
Pix was taken a few weeks before Saigon fell. 1975. Spent most of my time on the line runnin an ECM pod load crew
and troubleshooting Radar Homing and Warning systems, End of Runway checks, all that jazz.

Wow! I was in 8th CRS @ Kunsan F-4D's there...we used to fight the F-5E-Tiger II aggressors @ Clark during Cope Thunder. Been to Osan too. We lost a pilot That trip. His ejection seat shot him into the trees.... WSO got out 0.002 sec. before and lived. Landed in Elephant Grass, softened his impact. He passed out dragging himself with his right arm, Left arm had dislocated shoulder and a broken pelvis. The Elephant grass was on fire & he was barely staying ahead of it, fell in a creek & passed out a few feet from the fire. The Negrito tribesmen stripped the plane, canopy, parachute, & helmet before we could get there. They brought it all to the front gate to sell it back to the commander. They paid for it. A month later he limped into our shop with stitches all over his face & brought a bottle of black velvet to the guy who packed his chute. Everyone in the shop stood up and saluted this young Lt....don't remember their names. :salute
