Title: World Cup Qualifying! USA vs Antigua & Barbuda, Canada vs Cuba
Post by: Pigslilspaz on June 08, 2012, 03:37:54 PM
These are the matches that really matter, and I personally hope that Canada qualifies this cup.

United States v Antigua & Barbuda is on 7 Eastern on ESPN.

Also, guess I slept in, but Canada has won their match against Cuba 1-0, with a 54th minute goal by Olivier Occean (plays for SpVgg Greuther Fürth, just promoted to the top tier Bundesliga) despite only having 10 men after Goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld was given a red card for handling the ball just outside the penalty area.

Next match for Canada is Honduras, which tears me a little bit, since one of the San Jose Earthquakes players play for them :(

KICKOFF FOR USA v ANTIGUA & BARBUDA IS IN 2.5 HOURS

At halftime score is 2-0 for the Americans. Goal in the 8th by Bocanegra, and a successful penalty by Dempsey in the 44th.

Great first half. Let's hope the second half is equally good.

Sorry to say, but I think this first half was about as bad as the US v Canada game. It's like we're trying to pass it into the goal, we aren't taking shots.

Still, can't argue with the scoreline.

Ah the shoddy US team building up the pomp and circumstance for 3 years prior to the Seeding (it has become a ritual by now).    Only to fall flat by stupid penalties and sadarse goalkeeping in the World Cup when it really counts.

We aren't that shoddy anymore. It's just that Klinsmann needs to actually put the right people in the right places, and also keep Torres off the damn roster . I mean considering Brazil is the only country to beat us so far this year, and we beat the Italians and massacred the Scots. I feel bad for the Italians, Antigua and Barbuda scored more than they did  :rofl. Also, Landycakes needs to take more shots, instead of passing it. He's the top scorer in the history of the team, WHY ISN'T HE SHOOTING!?

well it's always the canada, mexico and the usa who usually qualify.  normally there's 2 of the 3 going.  then again people having forgotten how that mexico v surinam incident went back in the 80's.  never underestimate the opponent, it only takes 1 to win.

Canada hasn't qualified since '86 lol.

Fun fact, head coach of the SJ Earthquakes used to be Skipper for the Canadian team.

Canada won 1-0!!  CA-NA-DA! CA-NA-DA!

I still think soccer should be played on an ice surface with skates.  Then when somebody gets kicked, they will actually BE in pain, not faking it and holding both hands to their face like a 6 year old girl as soccer players currently do.

Soccer = ultimate plan put in place by Karl Marx to infect the minds of the children of the world that it is OK to be average.

Hey Bruv,  not like England has done anything significant since 86 against a top tier nation.

I saw the match.  Klinsy needs to revamp old 2 center backs if we want a change to for past the round of 16 in WC.  They are slow and Onyewu is no longer effective.  Johnson is a great left back and either Chandler or someone else will be the right back.

Once we get enough points in qualifying, i like to see Tim Ream and Geoff Cameron in the back for a few matched.  They have skill, speed and strong in the air.  By then they should be better at marking the opponents.
