Sorry, but that term is a bit too generic.
Hmmm... They're charging $30 for it? Could be Network Interface Card (NIC)?
My motherboard has a NIC-on-a-chip built in, but I bought a $35 Intel EXPI9301CT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106036) just to offload as much work as possible from my main system CPU. HTC says Aces High needs a smooth flow of packets over the i-net, more than great speed.

Yeah that's similar to the stuff I was looking at, for AMD. Just wondering if it is essential to the computer working correctly

where are you seeing a system that needs a network interface card?

No where, just saw it on the drop-down box at tigerdirect.com and wanted to see if I needed one. I don't think I do, with an ASUS sabertooth 990FX TUF motherboard and an AMD FX-4100 quad core AM3+

no, you don't need one with that mobo...

Thanks
