Ok, so I have some pretty cool news. We finished our new drone for Law Enforcement just in time for the National Sheriffs conference next week. This is held at the Gaylord Palms hotel. I was informed this morning that they need an additional $8000 bucks (after they soaked us for 25K for the show) to rent us an area at the hotel to fly it. The war is on but I wanted to show you guys a few picks of the new machine.
If you want to see some videos you can view them at www.CondorAerial.com under our video tab. These puppies carry a daytime camera with 36X optical and 360X digital zoom or a TAU 2 FLIR for night missions.

With all of the new regulations out there with the FAA, these guys won't normally take the risk of flying the drone in situations that could lead to ACLU problems. Most of the flights are search & rescue, border patrol, and criminal activities. Once they loose their FAA approved cetificate of authority to fly these, they are done for life. Not many cops out there that would want to be on the receiving end of costing their departments the only COA they would ever get.

With an operational ceiling of only 150' what would it be used for? 150' is little more then two pitcher to homeplate of distance.
-
It can fly to 8000 ft but the FAA regulates them to 400. You would be amazed at what you can see from 150-200 Ft. At 200 Ft we can read a license plate at 1/2 mile

I dont doubt what the drone can see. The problem is the bad guys seeing it.

Very cool but it needs Hispanos

At two hundred Ft you can't hear it or see it unless you knew where to look and had so optics.
-
Can it fly in bad weather? I'd like to see a sar drone for the mountains. Something that could hover in a 70 knot wind in a white out maybe. Can cameras see through clouds or blowing rain/snow yet?

Well swell then. It looked bigger then that. Good luck with it. Who makes the glass on it?
-
She can fly in winds up to 50 mph without a problem. The FLIR doesn't see fog so bad weather isn't a problem either.

Well I ask cause where I work the gangs would shoot it down with high power rifles if they saw it, like they do with the cams we put on street light poles. Honestly Ive yet to see a picture of the drone with a man standing next to it. 200' is nothing. Home to 2nd base is almost 130'. How fast does the condor go? Can it follow a car?
A pity they are restricting the capabilities of it. Surveillance is probably the least of its uses, but I'd sure like to have one to find a missing kid or a dangerous criminal in open country. Most of all at night. Pretty slick, just pull it out of the trunk.

That's what I was thinking....

Condor...will drop you a text tomorrow when I get close to Charlotte to see what you guys are doing. I may be able to slip out there to visit for a while and might have some interesting information.

Unless its your 3yo missing, in the freezing cold, and you have minutes to find him. Then all of a sudden it isnt skynet. Or an armed robbery offender in your neighborhood.
Its not like there arent cams out there already, "not that I agree with it". At least this thing can be hauled in a white shirts car and then used under strict court approved guidelines.
Its probably only a matter of time before every 18yo can buy one to buzz around the neighborhood with anyways. You can already put cams on model copters.
