Title: 83rd Fighter Squadron

DaNang Viet Nam F-105 Thuds. My Father in law was there & He gave me all his Jungle boots & Fatigues when I was still in. My C.O. let me wear the Boots, but not the fatigues. Anyway I can't find a copy of the squadron uniform patch anywhere.... Any ideas. I had 3 of them, now can't find any. One is on the collection patch at the parachute shop at Mtn Home AFB.  :salute

In the 78th FG we use the WWII version of the 83rd FS patch  for our guys assigned as 83rd. You can probably have them made as long as you have a pattern or copy.

Wikipedia doesn't show 83rd TFS at DaNang or with 105's...I know wiki is screwed up sometimes...been many years & he's got dementia so can't remember stuff. That patch doesn't look familiar....

Yup! i saw this page, but the only 105 base in theater is at Korat Thailand...he wasn't there...I don't think...Maybe they TDY'd to DaNang....still searching for a patch that definitely looks right.  :salute

I believe some units did TDY to Thailand during the war. It would be worth your while to possibly check the other links for his patch.. Just saying.  :D

W7 it just dawned on me. Da Nang was never the home of F-105 squadrons. The F-105s flew out of Thailand. Da Nang hosted F-100s F-4s and a few F-104s and F-102s.

I know...that's one thing that is messing me up. Maybe he was at Korat & went TDY to DaNang. I remember seeing a picture of him next to one of his birds & it was a 105....? On goes the search.
