Title: Taking Out a Shore Battery
Post by: Slade on June 18, 2012, 06:37:58 AM
Hello,

In a P-51d and then a Stuka I unsuccessfully tried to take out a shore battery.  How much ord does it take to take one of those out?

Thanks,

Slade  :salute

The shore battery requires 4000 lbs of ords.

There's a table here in the level bombing section.

The 1800kg bomb the Stuka can carry is JUST shy of 4,000lbs =/

If you can actually hit the dang thing. That is likely the tallest order of the question. Seems most of the time it is done with numerous rocket attacks.

The 1800kg bomb of the Stuka is worth 3,403lb of destructive power.

The Shore Battery requires 3,906.3lbs of destructive power.  You can check the amount of ords being required for each object in the arena by clicking Options->ArenaSetup->Objects->Object Settings. You can even do that in flight.

it has to be a direct hit too, splash damage from "close" hits dont count, if memory serves. :old:

I was wondering this also a few days ago, Took a 110 to a SB dropped it with 500 rounds of 20mm left.

Should be harder to kill.  :old:

The 110 is probably the attacker carrying the most destructive power in game.
2x500kg, 4x50kg, 750rds of 20mm and 255 rds of 30mm add up to a total destructive power equivalent of 8,512lb. Before the vehicle base layout was changed, a single 110 could shut down such a base by killing all three vehicle hangars all by itself.

Edit: It's not the number 1. B-25H carries a DPE of more than 10,000.

Lusche,

Is there a table somewhere that shows the DPE value of each kind of round and ordnance?

There is one on the Trainer Website showing guns and rockets. The gun data is still correct, but some rockets have been changed, the site is not up to date in that aspect.

I'm working on an up to date compilation at the moment.

I would like to include the DPE values for each aircraft's loadout on the fighter-bomber performance data I am doing.

That would easily take out the Shore Battery and the nearby town leaving a crater the size of Manhattan.

My question is, how is it that the diving board looks stationary after that behemoth just launched off of it?

Shutter speed, kinda like a helicopter's rotors will look stationary at the right shutter speed
