should a player already in a plane, gv, etc be able to control a task force?. if i am in a plane, i cannot control a tank, why should i be able to control a task force?
-
What is a GV ?
-
What is a GV ?
Little ant like things that crawl around the ground as you strafe them. :)

I think he means RV

So, someone should have to sit on the bridge to drive it? cool.
I'm all for removing CV's from the game altogether anyway, only because of the 3000ft automagic puffy ack.

I wish the CV commander would have to be in the CV tower or upped an aircraft from the CV instead of the points sytem we have now. Someone with a high rank can send it to it's death or be off doing something else and not paying attention and very few have high enough rank that can stop them. :furious

Ranking is ok but they should have to be within a certain distance from the cv to keep control.

:aok Yes you don't want a noob to keep control.

Ranking is the reason some people (sometimes myself included) artificially move their rank just to grab control of the CV. I'm not the jerk who takes it away from a mission or sits it RIGHT ON TOP OF a PT spawn because of an offense someone else created that day and that CV group just happens to be the target of their tantrum. I do, however, want to be able to undo things like those I've stated, or even move the CV when bombers are coming in with perfect timing due to the 'commander' of the CV being AFK or in a white knuckle dogfight there by being unable to do anything with said command.
Rank and CV control should not be connected as much as it is currently, but I honestly have no other ideas currently to offer as a counter.

Well 90% of the time who ever is in command of the CV is off doing something other than driving the CV. Bomber come and I can't turn it and it gets sunk. Half the time who ever is in command I never heard of um. Also why don't is say who has command anymore? Now when you pull up task force a lot of the time it has no name by the CV but you still can't move it and it gets sunk. I can make bomber miss all day long most times but not if I can't get control when I need to. Also go pork ords at the base you plan to use the CV at it will stay afloat a lot longer that way. Maybe who has control of the CV is like where you work at. The least qualified guy in the room is always in charge lol.

I rarely ever do much with CV except write SAPP with waypoints :D

Just have the name of the last person who commanded the CV stick in the display until someone else commands it.
This way we know who to inform that he's programmed the CV's course right into 3x pt spawns and both shore batteries.

OOooohhhhh wishlist....
Or, even better, when the CV gets sunk, have it display the persons name... (this is a joke, btw)

Can't leave the name in because the CV can be commanded without "Taking Command." Taking control just limits others from moving the CV; AHII's ultimate version of "I'm taking my ball and going home." (http://secondwivescafe.com/smilies/crybaby.gif)

However it is done, we need to know who last commanded a course change on the cv.

Why? Just so you can trash the guy. He may be a newb and not know better. Then on top of that he has you giving him a hard time about it. Sure sounds like a great way to keep people.subscribed.

Why? Just to whine about it? Seems pointless, since you can take control of it if the last person doesn't have it.

Agree 100% with the fugitive.

Actually, it would reduce the accusations of side switching and cheating concerning the cv.
Haven't you ever watched the map to see all of the CV courses changed to courses that send cv right into enemy cv, shore batteries, and pt spawns within a few seconds?
I have seen it and checked roster to find the person who changed all of the cv courses was now on the enemy side.
This happens far more often than you think.
"Sticking" the name of the last person who commanded a course change would help deter this.

Why not just limit the side switch... If you JUST moved a CV, well, you can wait 30 min. for a side change. It's not too long and makes perfect sense. Why do you need to move the CV if you are going to switch sides? You don't, so we could assume that if you move the CV, then try to switch, you're being bad so you need the 30 min. timeout anyway. (http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/104.gif)
And if a newb moves a CV and doesn't realize the positioning he's put it in, because he's a newb, just imagine the amount of concentrated hate that will be brought forth on that poor unlucky bastard... Constant names are bad IMO.
And then, even with my idea here.. we can't forget about shades, or people who can just... I dunno.. change their names? granted once a month, but that's enough to be obnoxious with a shade.

just make the puffy ack more realistic assuming it wasn't that bad in real life...but I have no idea how realistic it is.

Agree 100% with Fugi but disagree 200% with Midway.
redundant troll is redundant.

interesting. I was thinking more along the lines of helping players learn how to use this most valuable asset. something like:
.p noobie Hi, its better to send CV to North of island - thats where the town is
.p noobie if you send it South the LVTs have to drive across the airfield ...
or:
.p noobie you are sending CV into an enemy PT spawn
noobie: how do you know PT boats spawn there?
.r right-click on clipboard map, select "vehicle spawns"
or:
.p noobie watch out the SB can hit the CV if you keep going that way
etc.

I wonder which way of 'educating' MrNoob would see more use:
.p noobie Hi, its better to send CV to North of island - thats where the town is
or
Country: Noobie, get the f out of the CV
or
Country: Noobie has sunk our CV! Put it right in front of the SB
Country: He's a Bish spy!
County: What a lamer
I can't help it, I'm not very optimistic... :noid

Unfortunately you are probably closer on the latter end.
