HTC really is moving in an exciting direction. P38 looks very cool.
I liked this paragraph from combatsim.com
The M16 is a WW II half-track that came in various configurations. One of them will be used in Aces High. Vultures take note of the four guns mounted on the back. These are meant for you. This vehicle will be able to tow an artillery piece as well, and you'll be able to bombard an enemy base from a distance with it. In order to counter these units, there is an unspecified tank being introduced as well. These ground units will add in incredible new aspect to the already interesting dynamic of the Aces High arena.

I agree, they've done an excellent job capturing the beauty of the P-38! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Love the extended Fowler flaps! (http://route89.com/~wacko99/smile/cwm/cool.gif) I guess we have Natedog to thank for a job well done, right? Kudos, dude!
Looks like it's modeled after Medal of Honor recipient Major Tom McGuire's P-38L, Pudgy (V), an excellent choice.
A good website for info on Tom McGuire is http://www.fla-usa.com/mcguire/ (http://www.fla-usa.com/mcguire/) with excellent photos at http://www.fla-usa.com/mcguire/photos.html (http://www.fla-usa.com/mcguire/photos.html) .

"MY P-47 is a pretty good ship
And she took a round coming 'cross the Channel last trip
I was thinking 'bout my baby and lettin' her rip
Always got me through so far
Well they can ship me all over this great big world
But I'll never find nothing like my North End girl
I'm taking her home with me one day, sir

I can't see the nose art, but Bong's had his wife/girlfriend on it. Her name was Marge.

The nose art appears to say PUDGE if this helps the 38 drivers or others to ident her owner (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I am sure it is modeled after a very worthy pilot (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) S!

Gator had it right. it's the PUDGY (V) flown by the Medal of Honor recipient Major Tom McGuire.
and yes tshred, it's the L model and it did have the weights on the elevator. I'm glad everyone likes it so much, I've been working hard on it.
Thanks.

That 38 looks amazing. Heck I may be able to convince my entire Nomad squad still left on AW to come to AH with a 38 like that. BTW, we have been and always will be a P-38 Squad (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Gorf, Bong's paint scheme was "Marge", a picture of his wife. PUTT PUTT MARU was flown by MacDonald. Bong, MacDonald, and McGuire were all Medal of Honor winners from the same fighter group, the 475th FG.

I'm not much of a P-38 fan. I mean I do like the aircraft. Just not in flying it online in mock WWII aircombat (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) But now even *I* am drooling to try this plane out.
The article was very nice over all. Very upbeat and heaps of praise in my eyes for the work of the crew at HTC.

I never have considered myself much of a P38 fan myself either, but that is one fine piece of work. The scale of all the different parts of the plane looks dead-on.
Excellent work on graphics guys.

NATEDOG can you rework the canopy frame to be more round?
detail it up the way you have with the 109 cockpit frame? sort of a premptive shhh! for any latecoming critics (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
other than that it looks awsome, but that canopy needs a bit of touch up since its the part of the plane that we will b seeing the most.
the front armored glass window needs a rounded top edge also.
Please just view this as constructive criticism not meaning to hurt any feelings.
less important:
tan/brown exhaust stains from supercharger.
panels that vary in metal shade in some places where appropriate instead of panel lines
panel lines that blend in better.
The radiator inlets under the props would look a little better with 3 small inlets under each prop equal size horizontally by making the center one more narrow as well as making the dividers between the 3 inlets more narrow.
The inner side panels inside the radiator intakes need to be a darker shade of metal to simulate being in the shadows cuz when the sun shines above them they light up real bright.
its a gem even if you don't polish it though (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
great work (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Looks good Nate!
Now, who is gonna be the first to bail from the 38 and get hit by the tail? (Other then me! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) )
-
Hey Sundog,
Either roll it inverted and drop on out(clear of tail) or as you climb out on wing, keep yourself low and the slipstream over the upper wing surface will help make sure you miss the tail. But standing up as you climb out.... er, well, who is your insurance company?? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
