It's....uhh....unique. I'm curious how the scale model will perform in the wind tunnel.
-
I think it is an interesting concept, however. I like things with big propellers.
-
Probably would fly like a whale but nonethe less i have always had a thing for push props.
-
What happens if one side gets filled up with supermodels and the other side gets filled up with buffet busters?
-
I like things with big propellers.
I like things with forward swept wings.

one side for coach/buisness class passengers and the other side for 20 first class passengers complete with a roller rink, billiards room, full bar, 2 bowling lanes, health spa, and smokers lounge.

How in the hell will they line up on the runway? :bhead
-
Seems like an interesting way to get two fuselages into the same space as a single-fuselage normal airliner. If the wingspan is similar to a typical A320/B737 there would be no runway issues. Though I wonder how they will get it to a gate with two separate fuselages.

Me too, that's why I'm sad the the Unducted Fan and Ultra High Bypass engines they where testing in the 80's never caught on. With high oil prices you think they would since they are more efficient, as I understand it they never figured out how to make them quiet enough. T hat drawing looks like the idea is pusher/puller UDF engines.

It would never work for two reasons. One, the engines need to be placed so if one burns/falls off the other engine won't be damaged. Second, placing a prop in turbolent air (such as behind a wing) will reek havoc on the prop blades.
-
Yes because it's never been done before...

I don't think that design is new, IIRC its one of the alternative ideas considered for the A380

A friend of mine flew the Piaggio 180 for Avant Air. He said they are nice flying airplanes.

I think the guy was just trolling for pics of pusher planes.

Word on the street is that they tried to put those pt6's on the piaggio in a pull configuration. But when they saw what they were supposed to be pulling around, most just imploded rather than be forced to service that monstrosity.

Meh.... I've always thought of Piaggio as the fat, ugly stepsister or the Beech Starship, which IS beautiful.

Ive always thought the beech was pretty too but they missed the mark I think. The winglets always looked to big to me.
-
saggs, I'm a Beech guy myself so I can't disagree with you that the Starship is better looking.
The Piaggio a fat ugly step sister, though? Come on :)

Looks like a catfish. I like it!

I still like my engine up front where i can see it... :airplane:

I remember reading pilot reviews of the Starship and the Piaggio.
The only comparison item where the Starship was ahead was the looks. The Piaggio had it beat on everything else...
