Question for computer the knowlegable
I lost sound from the front case speaker jack, changed to rear jack( the one actually on the MB) had sound for a day -then no sound when I started puter second day - all tests on Realtek HD audio manager show everything ok.
speakers have power.
Is it dead or is there something I can do ?

Model

Thanks in advance

Did you plug and unplug the speakers a lot? To test, find any headset/earbuds you have that have the same size jack. Plug them in and see if you get sound. If you plug and unplug the speakers a lot you may have broken the wires inside the cable. The test with the headset will tell you. If it works your speakers wire may be broke, if it doesn't your sound may be gone.

Check in the Realtek Audio I/O panel that the jacks you are using are configured right: The amount of speakers, speaker or microphone etc. Checking that the Realtek is in use instead of, say, the HD audio circuit of your video card isn't a bad idea either.

Also to piggyback on what Fugi says...I had a front jack setup on a case that actually got too big and wouldn't create a nice tight fit around the headphone jack. Talk about a PITA trying to get a replacement from the case manufacturer. Finally ended up tossing the entire case and getting a new one since they wouldn't send out a replacement jack setup to me even though I offered to pay for it.
