Last night one of the worst wind storms I've ever seen rolled through our area last night, and we only caught the tip of it. There are massive power outages everywhere and incredible wind damage like I've never seen, and I work on covering this stuff for a living. In my little hometown there are over 20,000 people without power and it could be next week before it's restored.
You guys up north stay safe and find a cool place hide. Naturally we have a devastating storm on a weekend where it's 105 degrees.

I live in Hampton and went on a road trip to see family and read the news about the storm.
I read it was hit and miss with power outages where I live along with fallen trees.

Almost all of southern WVa is without power still, and could be going through the weekend. It was the worst windstorm we've had here, marked over 75 mph winds.

Yeah the storm was really bad. I don't know why there wasn't more damage in my area.

There's power lines in our driveway... And it's 100 degrees out. :uhoh

Yeah it's 100 degrees right now and the ENTIRE city of Martinsville, VA is out of power. The AEP transmission lines that feed the city from Ohio are down leaving everyone in the dark. It's incredible, there are traffic jams leading into the few area restaurants that are open, people have no clue what do, it's amazing to watch.

Nasty stuff and those folks up there are not used to those temps.

Still without power here in Ohio. 7 power poles in a row all snapped in half a hundred yards from my place. Gonna be awhile. I can deal with it but my 21st century kids are bored.

Similar thing happened here back in april. I didn't see anything on local tv till I turned the channel to TWC radar last nite. Big wall of red coming across the bay. About 50mph gusts of wind and there went the power. Back on this morning, been out cleaning yard and yes its hot. Didn't know the extent of the storms, hope you boys are safe.

Nothing like a pool party while listening to the distant sounds of chainsaws!
