Title: Going to the California Classico today!
Post by: Pigslilspaz on June 30, 2012, 12:31:56 PM
(http://www.mlssoccer.com/sites/league/files/imagecache/620x350/image_nodes/2012/06/SJ-LA.jpg)

Today at 7:00PM PST, the San Jose Earthquakes (10-3-3, 33 points 1st place in MLS) will face off against rivals and defending champions, the LA Galaxy (6-8-2, 20 points 5th in Western, 9th Overall) for the 50th regular season California Classico. It's another classic NorCal vs SoCal rivalry (And in my opinion, we should be two different states) that includes the Giants vs Dodgers, A's vs the Angels, Sharks vs Ducks and Kings, Raiders and Chargers, 49er's vs Nobody because LA is to stupid to have it's own NFL team.

The game, hosted at Stanford Stadium, had sold out all 50,000+ tickets 2 weeks ago, and now even the cheap seat tickets are selling for $100+ on after market sites. Tonight's match will include a salute to the Armed Forces (at least 700 tickets have been donated to Military Personnel and families) and will also be the start of San Jose's keeper Jon Busch's Saves for SEALs program, donating $50 to the Navy SEAL Foundation for every save he makes this season. Also, the Quakes club will be donating up to $25,000 to Operation Care and Comfort.

Me and my girlfriend got tickets well over a month ago, and have been waiting for this game since it was announced. It will be on ESPN2, and should be a riot (hopefully without a real riot). Going to be tailgating with a few friends from 3:00 till the game.

GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE. LONG LIVE THE QUAKES.

One would think it's fairly obvious. 1/10 Troll score for making me reply.

IF you think it is obvious then you fail. I asked a question is the answer too hard for you or are you just cut n pasting this?

It's ok though... it's really unimportant ....evidently to the point that even you have no idea.

If you read the post, it is very obvious what it is.

Yep, can't wait for him to rage again.

I was busy all weekend, how was the game?

It was insane, lost my voice by halftime.

Final score was 4-3 to the Quakes, with Beckham going full rage mode at the end as predicted.

Tonight we have a game at Portland, which will have backup keeper David Bingham (who scored against an EPL team as a rookie) starting, since our main keeper Jon Busch has a scratched cornea during the first half against LA.

More clįsico (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Cl%C3%A1sico) than classico (if you were thinking italian) , I guess.

I've played both sports, takes a lot more athleticism to play Association Football than American Football

Well thats your biased opinion.  Personally MY opinion american football is more athletic than soccer.  Running doing a bunch of drills in 100 degree heat with pads is pretty tough :).

My opinion isn't really biased, but what I have observed through personal experience (Played Nose Guard and GK/ST). Trust me, I love both sports but was always a lot more tired after a soccer match when I wasn't tending the net.
