Title: Curtiss SB2C Helldiver and B-25J
Post by: AceHavok on July 02, 2012, 01:03:48 AM
Helldiver:

This little plane did make it into WWII with over 7,000 being built.

It's armed with two 20mm cannons in the wings and two 30 caliber machine guns in the rear,  It can carry up to 2,000 pounds of bombs or a torpedo.

B-25J:

Over 4,000 B-25Js were made during the course of the war, excellent service record.  I think that the B-25J could see more use than the B-26.

Pretty please HTC!

we have some scenario-planes, seeing not much use otherwise.

Helldiver would be a good scenario-plane.

Unfortunately in the main arena it would just be another lump of coal, easy catch and disposed of, by 1944-45 planes.

Problem with the Helldiver in scenarios is the lack of opposition due to the lack of Japanese attack aircraft from the 1940s.

The Helldiver clearly has a place in AH and should be added, but around the time it is added the D4Y and B6N should also be added.  Right now we have the Japanese equivalents of the TBD Devastator in the B5N2 and the SBD-3 in the D3A1, so the Allied TBM-3 and SBD-5 are already ahead of them.

I don't see many people begging for the TBD Devastator.   ;)

It'd be great to have the B-25J (the most numerous varient) though!

Agreed.  Both would be good.

Not many will clamor for what they know to be a death trap.
