Title: Joystick Brand
Post by: DuncanIdaho on July 04, 2012, 01:45:18 PM
My x45 is fairly old and its starting to act funny so i think its time to replace it... im working a bunch of overtime so i was thinking of upgrading, my biggest question is what brand to go with and where to buy. i would love to have throttle joystick and rudder pedals.. i did do a search but everything that was coming up was from 2000 so thats why im asking thanks in advance...

If you want to seriously settle down and fly aces high - Thrustmaster warthog with CH pro Pedals.

I got mine from BeachCamera, paid $350 for the Thrustmaster stick (comes with throttle and joystick separate) and CH pro Pedals off their website for something like $75 new.

I will NEVER go back to X45/Logitech or whatever crap I had over the years, this compares to nothing.

Unless you're in dire need of a new stick immediately, keep an eye on ebay. I have 3 CH CombatSticks, one I bought new, and 2 I picked up used from ebay just in case I need a spare. Both used ones are in near perfect condition and I paid $29 for one, $33 for the other if I remember correctly.

where do you guys go to buy your ch stuff? i did like the looks of that TM throttle as it had 2 witch was making me think of my p38 with 2 engines... but might stick with ch stuff since that seems to be what everyone suggests.. what would you guys get in the ch lineup?

I've always had CH stick and Throttle. Top quality stuff. Had the pedals too but don't care for them being so close together. I use the Saitek pedals instead and like them a lot.

www.provantage.com  Check the descriptions of the different sticks.  We all have different preferences when it comes to how many buttons and switches are needed.  I prefer the combat stick to the fighter stick, cuz I'm all thumbs anyway, the more buttons on the fighterstick would just confuse me even more.  You can even mix and match.  I use the saitek pedals with the CH combatstick.   :joystick:  I don't even use the pro throttle...I just use the throttle wheel on the combatstick.  Just research a little bit and try and figure out what might best work for you.

Happy Hunting!!  :salute

I use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro,  I have a Saitek X-52, I don't like it that much it's too stiff and won't make smooth movements.

that is my biggest problem i found with my x45 since i started playing this game its jsut to stiff and when i try to do easy movement that spring jsut pushes me around... i know i will still suck at this game even with a nice setup but at least i can blame myself at that point

Before I went and spent hundreds of dollars on joystick equipment for a game I'm just learning I'd make sure I liked the game and it would be worth it. No sense spending it all and then not playing.
Reread it and I see the lots of OT statement but I'll stick with the above opinion.
I've been flying, tough to think that far back, a while and after the cheapies and the addiction was strong I got analog CH stuff; Force FX, throttle and rudders. That lasted maybe 8 years and then went USB. Fighterstick USB, Pro Throttle USB and I modded my old analog rudders to USB. Had an old Saitek EVO and I cannibalized the electronics in that to mod the old analog pedals to USB.
