Post by: fuzeman on July 10, 2012, 12:19:50 AM
This weekend is the 2012 Greatest Show On Turf, the airshow in Geneseo NY.

New this year a Fw 190 White 11 will visit.
And I got an email that states:

HAG Members, please help us spread the word about this Thursday evening program:

Public Invited to FREE Sneak Preview of Geneseo Airshow

Rochester’s own Tuskegee Airman, Charlie Price, will describe his experiences during WWII at a special preview of the Geneseo Airshow on Thursday, July 12. Prior to Price’s presentation, world champion pilot Rob Holland will thrill the audience with his MX-2 competition aircraft’s amazing aerobatic maneuvers . The public is invited to this free sneak airshow preview starting at 6:00pm at the 1941Historical Aircraft Group Museum and Airport, Big Tree Road, Geneseo.

Price served with the 332d Fighter Group during World War II, on the Intelligence Team of the Tuskegees, America’s first black combat unit. This unit’s P-51 “Red Tail” Mustangs escorted bombers on missions during WWII and were responsible for vastly improving the success rates of the missions and saving many US bomber aircraft and crews. The story of the Tuskegees was told in the movie Red Tails, released earlier this year. The contributions of the Tuskegees during WWII were recognized by Americans and served to further the civil rights movement in the USA after the war.

Rob Holland will take off promptly at 6:00pm that evening. His daring and amazing aerobatic maneuvers won him a Gold Medal finish in the 8thWorld Advanced Aerobatic Championships in Oregon.  Now he and his crew perform at airshows allover North America, and he is one of the featured acts at the Geneseo Saturday and Sunday, July 14 and 15.

I'd love to go all four days but chances of that are looking pretty slim.

Evidently 'White 11' is having engine trouble and was not there for fly in day. Those who were going to bring her send a Yak-3M instead.

Not that a Yak-3M is bad but was really looking forward to the Fw.  :frown:
