I wish HTC had an employee that was dedicated to updating existing terrains, improving layouts, studying where fights occur and don't occur and adjusting accordingly, etc...
There are a lot of terrains in rotation and all could benefit from regular improvements with respect to elevations, base placement, cloud density / movement, fixing mistakes, placing aditional items, trains, rivers, berms, hedges, trying new situations, etc.
Seems a shame to let all the hard work that went into a terrain get stale over time. Maybe spend 100 to 200 hrs on each terrain so they are all updated once every year or so
I'd pay an exta dollar or two a month for that. :aok

I handle all the bug fixes and they are done pretty soon after any bug report.
The problem is, most of the bug reports do not contain enough information to fix the problem.
We need terrain name (every terrain has the name located on the clipboard map), the feild in question, if not a field issue, then the sector number and approximate location in the sector where the problem is. Then finally a description of the problem so that we can reproduce it.
When you are trying to find an issue in 262,144 square miles of terrain, it is difficult to do without the above information.

Ok, there is a CV problem on a recent one. When I see it again I'll report it.
I was really thinking less about bug fixes as just improving them on a full time basis. A likely full time job since there are so many in rotation.

Actually, much of the "staleness" is a combination of map layout and people's play style (but I believe mostly play styles). I believe it to a very small (if any at all) ROI on HTC's part to dedicate a salaried employee to do the suggested research and map tweaking.

Imagine creating more fronts on each map instead of one big one. Just by assigning some bases to other countries... it would open up more fights and variety and create more surprises when a map comes up for rotation again. Less "not this map again" or "no good fights" complaints. Be fun to find new updates.
Still think it would be good with someone creative doing it, and experienced.
But nuff said fom me... I made my wish. :)

IMHO, maps don’t become “stale”. If terrain and fellow players’ behavior are satisfactory, I could play there essentially forever. There are a few locations on a couple of the maps which fit this description. I don’t play to sightsee (… darn; I’ve seen that mountain before; how boring…).

I think that the OP is right about bugs and maybe some base removal or relocation. But the only thing that is going to change game play is changing the objective. Like making huge towns that are centrally located that have to be captured and defended :devil .

I think Midway is now being ignored by most the community, the last time I scorned a map it ended with my crucifixion (and no change to the 5-6day-long single-map rotations).

There is nothing wrong with the maps, it's how they are used. As long as the "best way" to win the map is to get 30 or more of your closest friends together to take a base that is all your going to see.
By now, all of the maps have most of the bugs worked out of them. Sure they find one now and then, but HTC is pretty good about clearing them out..... as long as Skuzzy gets the right info.
But to change a map expecting to see a different fight to emerge is very naive. Moving bases, adding or removing mountains will alter the path, but not the fights. Until a way is incorporated into the game to change the "best way" to win the map things will not change.

If the maps don't matter with respect to fights, then why are some maps better than others (I see many people excited or disappointed when the maps rotate in before the first fight begins)? Why are some map locations/bases better fights than others? Each map provides a different (some better some worse) feel to the fights and variety for Gvs, fighters, and bombing.
...and bugs on existing maps are the least of what I'm talking about.
Made my wish... will quit responding to this. I still believe in it strongly. Understand you might not agree. :salute

Your opinion doesn't match with other people. Some people love Mindnao, other just hate it. Some people love to fight in one area, others in another. What you like about a map some may hate.
On top of that, even to make small changes in a map it is like making a new map as far as the process goes. Your proposing to have a map rebuilt each month when it takes several months to make one.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see new maps just for the fun of exploring them, I'd even offer to be "the map maker" and roll out a new map every few months, or update the older maps that they still have the source files for. But I don't think it will change how the game is played.
