I'm in Afghanistan and recieved a new joystick to start playing AH again. Whenever I up a GV, online or offline, my views are botched. The gunners view is OK, but from position one or a gunners position on top of the GV, the views are right behind the MG (gunner position or position on on the M3) or centerline beneath the MG if in position one. Also I'm not getting the unity reticle (circle with direction/gun orientation, current round type) when I'm in position one. Tried to reload the game, but it made no difference. Before I left the US I got on my laptop to talk with squadies but didn't try to play the game. Everything seemed fine then, but I didn't try to up anything so not sure if it was messed up before I got here. Last time I attempted to play the game on this machine was February, and it worked fine the. Any suggestions?

This probably goes without saying, but I'll shoot anyway... have you tried pressing the home button to return to the default head position, and save that with f10?
-
Yep, I've tried that. Tried the arrows, home, page up and down...nothing. Screen jitters when I try to use any of those buttons. So far, aircraft views are normal. :bhead And I've reloaded the game, too.
-
The laptop might be struggling to run the game. Just a guess. How about a DXDIAG output? It might help.
-
Here is the DXDIAG (Video portion only) Skuzzy...Everything seems to check out OK. You all may see something I don't. Had the laptop in Iraq and flew from over there with only lag/latency issues. Internet is even worse here. This happens offline as well. Running 59 FPS mostly. Views from Aircraft are normal.

First things first. The video card only has 512MB of dedicated video RAM, so you need to make sure you are not running with any anti-aliasing set in the games "Video Settings". While you are there, set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 256.
Now, does the problem exist when the joystick is not connected? GV's are tied heavily to sticks, if they are available. Make sure all power management is disabled in the laptop. It will want to turn off the USB bus when it thinks it is idle. What type of stick is it? The laptop may not have enough power to the USB bus to handle it.
-
OK Skuzzy, I think I've determined the problem. I purchased a rather cheap usb travel mouse before I left Texas for Afghanistan. I followed your instructions (max texture 256/no anti-aliasing) and I adjusted the power settings on the laptop for gaming mode. Went back into the game offline..still no change. By chance I turned the scroll button on the mouse, the view adjusted. Unless I have something in the game set wrong, it must be the cheap mouse. I do have mouse views disabled in the preferences in game. Hopefully tomorrow I can find a better mouse around here at one of the PXs.

Glad you got it solved. Be safe.
